DeeBeezy
I love to refer to members of the forum whenever I have a lack of experience with a cigar. I am fairly familiar with the fuerza and have smoked a multitude of them from 2016-2019 box codes. However I have never tried the punta, I do love a belicoso size. How does it differ in flavour profile from the fuerza? Also if people have tried any vintage versions from the early 2000s of either the fuerza or punta what are your thoughts? NSXCIGAR
I've always found La Punta to be a tad lighter than La Fuerza on average, especially in the last few years since La Fuerza seems to really be a step up. And the LP is always priced higher for some reason, so I pass.
Bri Fi
One of the main reasons to choose a smoke is the vitola. If you like the shape of the la punta then go for it. I have a box and love them. I’ve only had one LF and thought it was good as well. Sorry if this wasn’t helpful. All I can say is I haven’t been disappointed with the LP. Good luck. Well timed questioned, I was just eyeing a box myself and haven't tried the LP before. I also liked the Fuerza and feel confident about jumping on a box of LP despite never trying it. I have not tried any older versions so I cannot help you there. I am a big fan of belicosos in general so that also adds into my equation of splurging for a box. Islandboy
I’m no help with a comparison, but I’ve gotta say, I recently got my first box of La Fuerza (LGR Sep 18) and they are absolutely killin’ it! Hard to imagine anything being more flavorful.

I had 02 La Punta and they were still powerful and full favored when I smoked my last one two years ago. Very unique flavor profile. I had 3 boxes with same code EAR 02 I believe. No clue as how newer production would age.
1LegLance
One advantage of the belicoso or other figurado cigars is a higher quality roller (usually) which translates into better made cigars (usually). When the San Cristobal line launched I was not a fan at all....and over time I started to enjoy the blend more and now I wish I had bought more of the El Morro (double corona) when they were around and more of the Prado when I had a chance. Personally I find there is a subtle taste difference between the La Punta and the Fuerza and since you get more cigar out of the Punta for a few dollars less then go for it.
Bri Fi
@Islandboy that’s funny. My box of La Punta is LGR SEP 18. Must’ve been a good month/code combo.

LGR 18-19 El Principe have frustratingly been way off the mark. I'm hoping the RAT JAN 20 box I have coming is a break from that. And I haven't heard anyone raving about LGR La Punta they way they have LGR La Fuerza. Not to disparage LGR (La Corona) but only the La Fuerza has been a cut above. I actually did very much like the Prado (it was LGR) also and would spend my money there instead of La Punta as they're almost the same size. Bri Fi
@NSXCIGAR I have a box of LGR JUN 18 El Principe that are great. Of course, my expectations of a smaller format cigars are not as high. Same goes with the party short. I’m happy if they just don’t suck.

Did you smoke any TOS or EML El Principe? I know @JohnS concurs that LGR seem a bit off and between us we smoke quite a bit of El Principe. I'm a bit surprised to hear your assessment of smaller format (Minutos/Perlas) CCs. I have always found them extremely high quality and much more consistent than larger format CCs.
JohnS
Yes, I smoked a TOS Jun 2016 SCdLH El Principe around an hour ago. 90-95 point cigar. As they say, "sometimes it's best to stick to what you know!"

Quite a few solid 94-95 pointers in there. Ravi told me he still had a TOS box and I ordered it in May. He didn't tell me he actually didn't have it anymore before sending...an LGR JUN 19 box. I would not have ordered it. Not having my bread and butter cigar is giving me fits. Praying to the cigar gods these RAT on the way deliver the goods.
Bri Fi
@NSXCIGAR I’m not saying I don’t enjoy smaller format cigars because I do. Generally, for me they are a means to an end. I don’t typically pay too much attention to them. I usually smoke them when I have a quick 40 minutes but I’m usually doing other things besides taking notes. Sort of like a big Cohiba short. I know they are in completely different ball parks.
medzikone
Have a box of La Punta TOS MAR17. Not impressed. No taste, plugged. Horrible box
