El Presidente Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 The goal of the competition is to smoke a cigar for the longest period of time. The cigar smoking competition is open for adults only. Rules 1. • All participants receive the same cigar that they picked themselves from the box. • In the event that a defective cigar is chosen, the competitor can exchange the cigar for a new one. • Every cigar competition band is placed in the same position and fi xated with glue on every cigar provided to participants. Rules 2. • Each participant will be given a cigar cutter and a box with two long matches. • The competition table may only contain items provided by the organizer; any additional items are not permitted on the table during the whole competition. • Participants have 1 (one) minute to prepare the cigar (cutting). • Participants can choose to light the cigar using one or both matches. • It is not permitted to light the cigar before the competition officially starts; the judge will provide a clear signal when cigars are to be lit. • Participants have a maximum of 1 (one) minute to light the cigar, which is also included in the overall time of the competition. • Additional preparation of the cigar is not permitted. Rules 3. • During the competition it is not permitted to re-light the cigar. • During the competition it is not permitted to blow on the embers of the cigar, blow through the cigar or to wet the cigar. • During the fi rst 5 (fi ve) minutes, participants are not permitted to talk or consume drinks. • It is not permitted to put down the cigar; cigar has to be kept in the participants’ hand during the whole competition. Rules 4. • The cigar is smoked through to the competition band. • If the competition band is burned, the participant will be fi ned 15 penalty minutes. Rules 5. • Keeping the cigar ash gives a slow burning advantage to the participant. • Once the fi rst ash has fallen or been shaken off the cigar, the participant will be deducted the following Penalty minutes: In the fi rst 10 minutes of the competition, 20 minutes will be deducted. In the fi rst 20 minutes of the competition, 15 minutes will be deducted. In the fi rst 25 minutes of the competition, 10 minutes will be deducted. In the fi rst 30 minutes of the competition, 5 minutes will be deducted. In the fi rst 35 minutes of the competition, 3 minutes will be deducted. In the fi rst 40 minutes of the competition, 1 minute will be deducted. • For every cigar ash that is disposed in the ashtray within the fi rst 40 minutes of the competition, 10 penalty minutes will be deducted. • If the cigar band is burned, 15 penalty minutes will be deducted. • After 40 minutes, participants are permitted to shake off the ash without incurring penalty minutes – except in the case of ring burning (explained above). Rules 6. • Cigar smoking ends at the exact moment when the participant lifts his/her number and in that moment his/ her smoking time is recorded. This happens in two possible cases: 1. if the cigar extinguishes by itself. 2. when the band limit has been reached. • When fi nished smoking, the participant is required to leave the participant table. Judges. • The competition is led by two judges (Main and Assistant). One judge leads the competition for a maximum of 20 participants. • In the event where there are more than two judges for a competition, one judge is assigned as the Main judge and the others are appointed Assistant judges. • Participants are required to report whether their ash falls off the cigar, as well as if the cigar is extinguished or when the ember reaches the band. Judges can report a participant who does not advise when their ash has fallen, in the event of band burning and whether the cigar is placed in an ashtray or extinguished. • Judges can disqualify a participant if he/she does not respect the rules or disturbs other participants. • During the competition, the Main judge will inform participants of the time: after the fi rst minute and every 10 minutes after that. • When the competition ends, judges will inspect the bands of the participants’ cigars to determine whether they have been burned. • The competition report contains a time record, including the penalty minutes; this is the responsibility of the Main judge. The winner of the competition is the person who smokes the cigar for the longest period of time without having to re-light it. Essentially, the winner of the competition is the person whose smoking time is the longest, after penalty minutes have been taken into consideration. NSXCIGAR Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Ok, that is the weirdest "competition" I've ever heard of.
avaldes Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 You know, I was just sitting in my backyard the other day....I had an Upmann #2 in my my hand and I thought to myself..."You know what would make this better? A bunch of rules and limitations" I really can't talk, I participate in all kinds of silly competitions. I bet it would be amusing
NSXCIGAR Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Can't even smoke a CC for it either. Make it real interesting and use a Monte A.
Habana Mike Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Almost did this last June in Maiori, Italy. Was at the table, with cigar in hand. It was a Macanudo which I decided I didn't feel like spending an hour or three with! Instead had a long lunch beachside with Rob and the gang. It's a Rocky Patel module this year..... World record 3 hours and 40 minutes with a Mareva!
El Presidente Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 You all realise that there are no cuban cigars consistent enough that will provide the same burn for 20 competitors. 3
Bri Fi Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I didn’t see any rules about laying down on the table to keep the cigar vertical. I’d bring a pillow to this comp. anyone else wanna see Ken participate. We should start a “go fund me”
nKostyan Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 In short, this is a competition for the longest Smoking time and the longest ash. From the point of view of getting pleasure from Smoking - it is not here. In Russia, this championship is popular, as well as ridicule over it ?
