Popular Post maverickdrinker
The wrapper is a light honey and caramel hue. Smooth to the touch. Construction is beautiful. Firm throughout the cigar with a slight give when squeezed. No soft spots to speak of. The triple cap looks good and the foot is packed. Aromas of hazelnut, cream, barnyard, cocoa and earth emanate from the wrapper. A quick twist from my Siglo multi punch and we are ready to roll. Under the cap, a perfect divot. This is a good sign and gets me more excited to enjoy this. The draw is a little tight. Hope this opens up upon lighting. Leather, earth, cocoa and touches of eucalyptus, cream and a grassy note come from the cold draw. First ThirdVery muted start. Slow to open up. Strength is at a medium level and the flavour profile is very subtle. Will have to smoke this slowly to fully appreciate the flavours. The retrohale is sleek and subtle. Gentle layers of cocoa, leather, light cedar and touches of grassy notes move slowly through the nasal passages. The after finish is very delicate. Cocoa, leather and light cedar, accented with light cedar, expresso and a hint of cinnamon. Very subtle and elegant. The medium bodied strength level allows the flavours to envelop the palate gently. This will take focus to enjoy... Second ThirdThe ash is dense. Stays on point as we get to the second third. No sign of breaking off or any soft spots in the ash. The draw has opened up as well. Everything is on point. The retrohale brings earth, leather, cocoa and grassy notes. More prominent as it moves through the nasal passages. The after finish is tantalizing and complex. Cocoa, leather, earth and grassy notes, followed by touches of cinnamon, expresso and oolong tea. Very soothing as it lingers on the palate. I notice I close my eyes after every draw to really concentrate on the flavour profile. Pure joy right now. Final ThirdThe flavours begin to lean to the heavier tones of expresso, earth, grassy notes and oolong tea as they move through the nasal passages. The after finish is richer with expresso, earth, grassy notes and oolong tea leading the way. Leather, light cedar, roasted nuts and cocoa complete the profile. Cinnamon comes into focus once in awhile but not in a major way. Strength has moved up slightly but still stays in the medium bodied strength category. The staying power on the palate benefits from this slight uptick in strength. Makes you slow down between draws to fully appreciate everything the flavour profile is giving you. A nice way to finish... Final ImpressionsThis is a ‘thinking’ cigar for me meaning, you really have to concentrate to appreciate the subtleties of the flavour profile. Sleek and complex. Reminds me of Cohibas that I have smoked from the early 90s with a slight reduction in strength. It feels like old tobacco to me, despite the actual age of the cigar. What also stood out was the quality of construction. 3 perfect break points. Almost identical in length and structure. No soft spots throughout the cigar as the ash was very dense. The burn was razor sharp throughout the whole cigar and no touch ups were required. The perfect track record of seeing a divot when the triple cap is cut and the quality of the cigar is still intact. Overall, this is smoking beautifully and shows great complexity and nuance. The core flavours intermingle well and linger on the palate, in a angular way. I do think that this is just the beginning of its evolution. Will enjoy the remaining ones in due course and in small doses. Will not return to this for a few years to see how it develops with more time in slumber. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

FireDigger
The question I really want to ask is... "Is this a $1000 cigar?"

What I paid to what people buy it for in today’s marketplace are very different. Is it a good cigar? Absolutely! Would I pay $1,000 for this cigar (or any cigar for that matter). No. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
