Popular Post rcarlson Posted June 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 8, 2020 Leepers and Wailbait inspired me to dig into my album collection and go for something next-level "out." I picked Brazilian composition and performance giant Hermeto Pascoal. Spent some time with Hermeto and Pat Metheny at their height in the late 80's at the Regatta Bar in Boston. I was honored and blown away. A very memorable evening with two icons that I think back to frequently. Grabbed Cerebro Magnitico and let 'er rip. Was like stepping into a time machine. Put me in a mood. Cooled down with some Chet Baker and Joe Pass, then took a circa '14 Siglo VI I've been saving, some 22 year Speyside, and jumped on Zoom to chat-up some new friends. The Sig VI was just incredible. The wrapper was smooth and oily with a light brown yellowish sheen. Densely packed, exceptional roll. Leather, cedar, earthy cold aroma followed by a perfect burn. Started out with a well-balanced sweetbread, cedar, light citrus, vanilla, floral cool smoke. Middle worked in some leather, earthiness, and just a touch of the classic Cohiba wet hay. Last third maintained the staple flavors, with no edge or harshness to speak of. A luxurious ride to the end. My best of 2020. A true valedictorian. 12
Wailbait Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 This was a fantastic review. I need to check this artist out! In other news, was listening to some Pacific Jazz Joe Pass stuff today. Serendipitous!

teamrandr Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Thanks for sharing! The Siglo VI is a real treat with some age.
