Popular Post JohnS Posted June 7, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 7, 2020 A question of interest was raised a few days ago in the Daily Smoking thread as to how many pre-Revolution (or pre-1960) cigars are still current. Thanks to the cataloguing work of @Trevor2118 and @ATGroom, Cuban Cigar Website can provide answers for question such as this one. The answer is 69. Below are lists of discontinued and current pre-1960 (pre-Revolution) and post-1960 (after the Cuban Government took over Cigar production) to June 2020. Please note that for the purposes of these lists ICT, La Casa del Habanos (e.g. Ramon Allones Superiores, Partagas Salomones et al.) and Habanos Specialist release cigars (e.g. H.Upmann Connossieur A, Por Larranaga Picadores et al.) are classified as current production. Furthermore, there are some LCDH La Gloria Cubana releases that are indeterminate in regards to their present availability (i.e the 2010 Inmensos and 2015 Piramides and Robustos Extra), the current status of Belinda is also indeterminate and the 2020 LCDH Juan Lopez Seleccion Especial and 2020 Habanos Specialist Release Montecristo Herederos is not yet released. 1. Habana Mike Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Damn! Like a 75% cut to Marca lines as it boils down. So many vitolas meeting their demise is quite sad to me. I guess rationalization was necessary to manage budget and production requirements. Glad I caught the tail end of the glory days though hope there may be a Renaissance one day. 2
El Presidente Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 Nice work John Habanos have a war wagon of winners on their hands. They simply need the correct canvas. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 I think the elimination of the machine-mades in the major brands comprises much of the pre-Rev cuts. Party and Boli lost a ton of smaller cigars in 02. And all duplicate vitolas in brands were cut. Hard to imagine Punch had 4 Corona Gordas and RyJ had 4 Julieta 2s these days. I would guess demand for RyJ Clemenceau was probably pretty low near the end... 1
