Always an enjoyable read, Ken. If I ever get back out there, I'd be keen to sample the ginger beer. Hard to beat when it's done right. And your packaging was particularly impressive. ;)

Yes. About the only drinks I see Kahlua in are black/White Russians or Mexican coffee. Kind of like the Legendario Elixer. I can only drink that with a shot of rum on top though that’s a match made in heaven...

Have not has as good of luck with you on the La Trova, perhaps received a bad batch. I want to love them but mine have been underwhelming.

Great review, @Ken Gargett can you do a video on how to make your own Ginger beer? I love the stuff but always buy it, would love to know how to make it myself.

Yes. Duly noted. I seem to remember someone wanting to keep the timeframe down on these vids... Rob, do you remember who that was? ?

If I recall, Ken was a little sentimental about that (decision to keep the videos shorter), No?

okay so what is the real deal with la trova.........plenty say its not worth it for the money, but you see plenty smoking it......value/price aside, is this a good cigar? how does it compare to others in the line up..fundy/vigia or the new ones.............and also, is it worth the price? lol

There are two things about the Trinidad La Trova that I can confidently assert:

  1. It's a La Casa Del Habano release and some of these have enjoyed a solid reputation since they came to market. These include the Partagas Culebras, Partagas Salomones, Ramon Allones Superiores, H.Upmann Royal Robusto, Hoyo de Monterey Epicure de Luxe, Bolivar Libertador and the Trinidad La Trova.
  2. The Factory Name (Vitola de Galera) for the Trinidad La Trova is a Cañonazo Especial (T). There's only been one other Cuban cigar release in this size, the Cohiba 1966 EL 2011. There's no need to further spruik the merits of this particular Limited Edition because frankly, it (i.e. the critical reception of the Cohiba 1966 EL amongst cigar enthusiasts) speaks for itself!

I can't speak for the price (I guess due to my nationality). However, in my view, the La Trova is a quality premium Trinidad release worthy of its lofty reputation.

I’m interested in what others think too. So far as I can see, if you like the traditional Trinidad DNA then the Coloniales are a lot more bang for buck. If you want complexity, elegance and evolution then go for the Fundy. But if you want a lot of Trinidad smoke and a big cigar you are now spoiled.

it is also my impression that the colo and fundy takes a few years to come into their own, while the LT hits it out of the park immediately
