Surprised To See dutchcigars Brought Defi Extreme In Cuba Trip

I'm really surprised to see Dirk (dutchcigars) brought his Defi Extreme in Cuba trip from his Instagram story. I'd already asked him about this when I saw the exact same thing a long time ago, but didn't get any response from him. How did he manage to take his Defi Extreme in flight travel without any hassle? AFAIK, I can't bring torch lighters (unless FOH lighter) in airplane based on my torch lighter and travel related posts.

I wouldn't try and bring a metal-bodied torch lighter on a plane, but I travel with a little plastic torch all the time - in hand luggage. There's not an airport in the world that seems to notice.

This is the reason why we cherish FOH lighter so much! ?

I assume he tossed it in his checked luggage. And if it gets pinched he doesn’t care, as he can grab another from his shop at cost.

I've packed a cheapo torch and side knife in my checked luggage every time I've flown. Domestic flights, but still.

Brought one myself in checked bags last November. No problem.

I've traveled all over the world with my Defi Extreme. The count so far is probably a dozen different countries over the last couple years? Never had an issue

I also have the same thought as well! This was the reason why my Executive II didn't get confiscated at all (I put empty Executive II, separated FOH Torch in checked in luggage)! From now own, I should put Defi Extreme in checked in luggage every time I travel in the world when I get Defi Extreme ?!

Note. Will tabletop torch lighters be safe from airport security when I put them in checked in luggage? I think it would be tougher, as they're definitely bulkier than Defi Extreme and FOH lighters.
