El Presidente Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Jeremy reached out earlier today looking for a supplier of Spanish Cedar in OZ for a humidor rebuild. If any of the Aussie brethren have gone through the process recently, can you post your local source of Spanish Cedar. Gracias
Fuzz Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 That's incredibly hard to find. How much does Jeremy need?

El Presidente Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 If too difficult I would just go the mahogany route.
PigFish Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Mahogany is a better wood. MHO! Of course, I don’t put wood in humidors, so go figure! -the Pig 1

If it is not much, and he is not too worried about cost, then he can get it from luthier wood suppliers. https://australiantonewoods.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=566&search=spanish+cedar https://luthiersupplies.com.au/spanish-cedar-classical-guitar-neck-heel-blanks
El Presidente Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 You are a good man Charlie Brown
Fuzz Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Just note that the width is narrow. The wood is cut for guitar necks, after all.

Wookie Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Is there history of aging cigars in mahogany as opposed to Spanish cedar?
Capt. Corona Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 PM your address and let me know how much you need and I'll send you some. I have more than I'll probably ever use. Mostly 4/4 but I can resaw it thinner if you like. Most I have is around 6-8 inches wide. Some of the boards are 6-7 ft long. It would be coming from the states so the smaller I can cut it the better. If you're interested just send some cigars back if it works out for you. Spanish cedar is the only wood I would use for cigars. LMK 1

joey rockets Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Aren't most newer humidors that contain Spanish cedar using a veneer grade wood in these units? I believe they used to be constructed out of solid cedar but perhaps there is a scarcity today as many are veneer lined?
