benfica_77 Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 After a lot of voting the community has chosen the following cigars as the top choice for each marca (regular production cigars only). benfica_77 Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 If only habanos S.A would read this post we would see a lot less short and stubby cigars and more long and skinnies....the new Punch 898s REs (but not really 898s) are hopefully a change in the right direction.
SenorPerfecto Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 I question if the people voting QdO knew they were voting for the new coronas. Seemed like many were voting for pre 2016. Also I’m not convinced LGC2 is discontinued and it should have won. The shocker is SLR. DC or die baby!
IanMcLean68 Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 I'm not a fan of Cuaba, but I am surprised that Divinos beat Distinguidos.
TheMonk Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Most of them do sound about right, IMO. Was a bit surprised to see the Lusis win on the Partagas, would've thought the D4 would take it, even though I fully agree on the Lusis.
RDB Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 I was astonished (and slightly disturbed) how closely the voting mirrored my own preferences. Not only for the top pick, but also second and third places often. Suspect I’ve just internalised the board wisdom / prejudices! V interesting exercise, thanks @benfica_77 1

It's always technically been the 'coronas claros', despite the confusing labeling in the past. I haven't smoked any of the 'facelift' version, yet, so i can't speak with authority.

They didn't (intendedly) as per HSA. That doesn't mean that there isn't variability....
cfc1016 Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Just now, Fugu said: They didn't (intendedly) as per HSA. That doesn't mean that there isn't variability.... Have you smoked a few of the new ones, to compare to previous years (smoked at similar age)? I'm curious to hear the opinion of some other folks who've long known and loved the vitola, before I buy any of the new boxes.

Has become a wee bit trickier to get hold of them compared to the old ones, when no one really cared for them... 1

Their biggest market is smoking fatter and fatter cigars. The folks here seem to be an enigma compared to the rest of the cigar buying world, even in the NC realm, I just saw an advertisement from Alec Bradley for the Texas Lancero (7 in x 70 rg!), lol! I have no idea who is smoking a cigar like that, but someone must be or they wouldn't make them. Although I do wonder when people always talk about long and skinnies, and yet the fatties, the Rio Secos, San Juans, and PSE2s sell out so quickly............ The RyJ widechurchill is the only truly wider RG cigar I enjoy. Robusto RG or skinnier for me. I don't want to shove a baseball bat in my mouth while i'm smoking.
Puros Y Vino Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Great list of regular production cigars. Had you conducted this poll on a FB cigar group, the list would be littered with EL's and RE's with >50RG And Talisman would take the first 5 spots. 2
