Ken Gargett Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 not sure which of these is more weird. i have to do a small piece involving women's fashion - it does relate to wine and this is a side thing, so we have to make our editors happy. what i know about women's fashion could be written on the head of the proverbial pin (thankfully it is a very short piece) and still leave room for me and a host of angels to dance happily. but in researching stuff, i came across one of the more unlikely facts imaginable. guess who wrote the first draft of the screenplay for james dean's 'rebel without a cause'? don't google. no idea? i am not making this up. the first draft was written by dr seuss. seriously. (still not as weird as anyone paying me to write about women's fashion - although in this case, the recompense really does reflect the knowledge). 3 1

To me, it is something like World Without Precious Cuban Cigars World Without Smartphone World Without Netflix or Something Similar
Fuzz AI Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Ken, you could always write up a piece on the correlation between men's beards, women's skirts and the price of gold.
Ritch Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I was thinking about women's skirts the other day and it suddenly dawned on me that skirts get shorter in economic crises (or at least historically so) not just because they are made initially shorter but also because they are worn for longer and thus grown out of. I came to this conclusion when I saw my daughter wearing a dress that was getting too short because she keeps growing so bloody fast. Time yet again for a load of new clothes.

Ken Gargett Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 but seriously? dr seuss? rebel without a cause? or did everyone else know this?

CaptainQuintero Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Will you be posting this piece here? Sounds like it will be a good addition to my bus stop small talk database for when I get cornered by an old dear "Yes Mrs Johnson it is running late today, but did you know that the rise in popularity of Australian Shiraz in San Diego has also lead to a sharp rise in the sales of Uggz as well as bush hats with little corks attached?" 1
Deeg Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Another good screenplay oddity is that the Monkees' Beatles rip-off psychedelic flick "Head" was written by Jack Nicholson.
