Popular Post rcarlson
I've jumped back into one of my favorite overlooked gems, the JL 1. On a whim I decided to get a 6 pack many months ago and was duly impressed. This is from my latest box, which will no doubt not be my last. I'm a huge fan. This one didn't disappoint. The wrapper and construction were excellent. Initial draws were sweet grass with a pervasive creamy, buttery envelope. Usually, I get a blast of some floral in the background throughout, which I like, but in this particular box I have yet to get any floral out of 'em. And that's okay. It's a slightly different cigar and creamier than prior JLS 1 I've had. The character and taste is still "all there," even with the floral missing. As the smoke warms, I will echo my fellow JL 1 lover, Buzzard, and say that there's a distinct "bready" and light honey thing going on. I takes me to the bakery counter . Sweet, rich, doughy. Toasted nuts in the background to boot. This stick was consistent all the way through. It did develop some of that "mongrel" and nicotine bite towards the end. However, methinks that was more the product of its age and aggressive smoking on my part than anything else. I'm impatient anyway, but find no reason to age these. They are only a year out and terrific just as they are IMO. And for the price? Get outta here. Balanced, flavorful, satiating and easy on the wallet. The JLS 1 is always on-time, takes good notes, and turns in all of its assignments. I give it an "A." Here's the journey: 7

Kaptain Karl
I just had my first one out of the same box code. Already a great smoke! I can definitely see it becoming one of my go to smokes!
