Omnipus Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I started to get to the center of the PLPC bunch from our host. What I discovered is that a number of the cigars have a gold dust, most likely from the gold used on the labels. On some of the cigars, it's quite a generous sprinkling. Is this a common occurrence with PLPCs or is it what I should expect from PSP ?
CaptainQuintero Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 It could be sawdust, or I suppose a bit of mould but from my experience with PLPC it could just be off the bands; if you give then even a light scratch/rub it comes off very easily
Auspaul Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Noticed this before thought it was plume then realised it was from the labels was excited for a while
SCgarman Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I have seen this in many threads before regarding PL gold bands and the finish leaving "dust" on the wrappers. No big deal.
unclepauly25 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 The gold dust you see is on many cigar brands. When they print the bands they use a metallic pigment that sometimes flakes off and sticks to the cigars, it’s harmless, I’ve been a printing press operator for 27 years and have seen this happen on anything with metallic ink.
