MD Puffer Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Looks like you found yourself a healthy barn owl there. “Who”... I like that 1
stogieluver Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Can’t believe he let you get that close. Did you have your squirrel hat on again? 2
Popular Post prodigy Posted May 25, 2019 Popular Post Posted May 25, 2019 I've had a few encounters with cool birds. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 7
TBird55 Posted May 25, 2019 Author Posted May 25, 2019 We have several in the neighborhood. I can go outside and start "hooting^ at dusk, and get 5 or 6 hooting back to me. Oh, what we do for entertainment in LA. 2

Saw him fly to the sign and walked up to him. I was no more than 10 feet from him. I hooted at him a few times., then walked away. He never flew off... 1

Baccy Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 I love birds of prey, they always mesmerize me. I have to stop and appreciate their beauty and magnificence. Lots of red-tailed hawks around here....
Islandboy Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 We actually have barn owls here in Hawaii. We also have a native Hawaiian owl that’s just a tad smaller named the Pueo (say pooh-A-oh). Gorgeous birds. Thats your Hawaiian lesson for the day. 2
CaptainQuintero Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Awesome stuff! I've just started getting into learning different birdsong etc after moving more into the countryside and bring overwhelmed with them. I still count myself really lucky to catch a glimpse of an owl, beautiful things
Chef Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 I’ve always had a fascination of predatory birds. Don’t get too close to that owl. It can snatch something off your body. Really cool encounter, though.
