Happy Birthday!!!! @SigmundChurchill

Was with @ElJavi76 on Tuesday and he mentioned your bday :)

Maybe we can all get together before I move to the UK at the end of this month!

That would be great, only time is a factor because my son’s Bar Mitzvah is at the end of march, and my wife wants me to be a little more involved in the planning than I had hoped for.

I will be taking a family trip to the UK for a few days in April.  Maybe we could meet up there?

Mazel tov on your son's upcoming bar mitzvah.  Helping your son with his haftarah?

We get into London on April 13th, and leave for Paris on the 16th.  I’ll remind you as we get closer.?

A little.  We hired a tutor to help him.  My wife is keeping me busy with the party planning.  My son wanted the theme to be “Ski and Surf”, so half the ballroom will look like a beach and the other half will look like a ski resort.  I am currently looking for a tiki bar for the beach side and a waffle hut for the ski side. Plus I need to find a lot of ski footage and surfing footage to play on the flat screens.  It should be pretty cool.  The party planner we are working with even found a real ski lift chair with a mountain scene in the background for people to sit on for photos.  It is very involved.

Happy birthday Elliot! Glad you had a chance to enjoy that amazing cigar.

@torsion and I will hanging out during the week next week as well. So @SigmundChurchill not sure if you have any time midweek next week. That could be a window for us to smoke in the city. If not, I'm sure he'll find a real great place to smoke with you in April.

Cheers!

Not sure about next week.  I have no early days at work, and as you can see above, the free time I do have is not really free time.  LOL.  We can discuss on Saturday.

I turned 50 years old today, so I wanted to smoke something special.

1980-1982 Davidoff Chateau Yquem

These cigars were unbanded until 1980, and then discontinued in 1982 after legal action was threatened but the vineyard.  The last couple of Davidoffs I smoked seemed like they were past their prime, but the person who sent me this one said that this batch was smoking beautifully, and after smoking this cigar, it was obvious he was right.  This cigar did not disappoint.  At the start, there was some mustiness as I have come to expect with many vintage cigars.  That tapered off into a complex, but very smooth array of flavors starting with expresso and honey that intensified as the cigar smoked its way down to the middle, where it transformed into some flavors that I cant describe other than to describe them as flavors that you just dont find in cigars anymore.  The final third of the cigar tasted like a handful of fresh spices pulled off a spice rack, with anise dominating the other spices.  It was truly a heavenly experience, worthy of a 50th birthday cigar.

In another thread you offered the Cabinetta as the best cigar ever. I’d add the Yquem to a very short list of my “Best Ever Made”.
