There you go. ben, completely agree on seeing the pic. very much like a jewfish. couple of pics for our offshore friends of some big fellas. i've never got one approaching this size. just smaller stuff. thought i had good one on fly once in the southport bar but it turned out to be a big tailor. one of the guys got a good one at fraser a few years ago. some guys specifically target them. the old man got a couple of good ones from the beach, just along from main beach. when i was at uni, he and mates would drive down on a friday arvo and in those days, you were permitted to drive along main beach in 4wds. they'd fish the beach. one night, i was woken about 3am by something large and silvery in my doorway (i used to live down under the house). he picked up a monster fishing on the beach. not quite as big as the bottom picture but not that far short. no such thing as catch and release in those days. i gather that you can catch some monsters over in west africa.
CigarScentedBeard Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Did I read this is open world wide?

I'm becoming impressed man survives. harmless. they are about 8 inches long, not poisonous. hell, they rank with poodles and goldfish as possible useless pets. i gather the bloke was half tanked when he caught it. one report said he managed to catch it without spilling a drop of the beer in his other hand. mind you, being pissed and seeing that come out of the ocean might be a trip.
Habana Mike Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Looks like we finally have our boat lined up! Brocklehurst was a bit busy with the Festival apparently 2
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 so my plan it to fish great lake (Lake Ontario), by trolling, with open face rod and reel... likely solo. not sure how that fits the options. I'm guessing fly and spin, fresh water. but technically the reels are not spinning reels. they are Shimano Tekota fishing reels...

We will not be that picky ....if a lure is going through the water...it's spin. 1
