The very first song on the very first Led Zeppelin album and straight away we're made aware of John Bonham's extra special drumming. (I.e. triplets on the bass drum, playing eighths on the high-hat with his foot and use of the cowbell). Seriously, what a song. Every drummer who wants to take their drumming to another level has spent time drumming along to this song! 6

Ford2112 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Paul McCartney on drums bass and guitar with Steve Miller. Badass song! 2 2

A little over ten years ago my wife agreed to me purchasing a second-hand kit off a friend for my 40th birthday. The issue had to do with the space a drum kit takes up in a room. When that was catered for (at our home), my son and I started to work on our drumming skills and naturally I came upon 'Good Times, Bad Times' to take my drumming to another level. That was after I learnt to use the kick drum more efficiently on 'Immigrant Song'. I have a huge respect for John Bonham's ability on those songs (and others). 8 hours ago, Ford2112 said: Paul McCartney on drums bass and guitar with Steve Miller. Badass song! If you didn't know that Paul McCartney was on drums on this record, then you wouldn't believe it. It all came about by chance. The Beatles were recording at Olympic Studios, London in early May 1969 (since engineer Glyn Johns favoured that studio) and that night they had a massive argument in regards to signing on with Allen Klein as their incumbent manager. Paul McCartney held out (as he continued to do) and the subject ultimately led to an irreconcilable difference in the band continuing past the next year in 1970. Steve Miller was also at Olympic Studios that night and Paul had a lot of pent-up energy due to the argument with the other Beatles earlier, so he asked to play with Steve that night. That aggressiveness is obvious on the drumming on this record. 2
