El Presidente Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I only put this up because 3667 cigars in Oz would have a tax rate (on average) of $40000. $5000 fine is a sweet deal ...even if they may have been confiscated this once https://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/news-story/9083887-man-fined-in-peterborough-for-untaxed-cigars/ Man fined in Peterborough for untaxed cigars NEWS Dec 14, 2018 by EXAMINER STAFF Peterborough Examiner A man has been fined $5,000 in court in Peterborough for possessing untaxed cigars. Rashad Petgrave was convicted under the Tobacco Tax Act on Oct. 22 in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, the Ministry of Finance reported on Friday. Jimmy_jack Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Good lord those cigars pictured looked rough. Being sold as Bhk seconds no doubt

MD Puffer Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Has a real 1920's prohibition feel to it. Won't be long before bootleggers are crossing the border north, eluding the Mounties to make deliveries of cigars. Hell, set me up with a '77 Firebird and Sally Fields and I'll make runs myself! 2
RijkdeGooier Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 As I read it, the operative expression here is ‘purpose to sell’. As an illicit trader he has been nabbed. Given the picture of the cigars rightly so IMO ? 1

Puros Y Vino Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I think that was just a file photo. Correnti's is a Toronto based custom cigar shop. Their claim to "fame" is having >25YO Cuban leaf on hand. I think Rob paid them a visit and chatted with the owners way back in 2010/11. Their cigars are mostly Dominican leaf IIRC. As for this guy, he screwed up huge. If he posted his entire list on Kijiji, he was asking for it. He should do what the serial flippers do and use Facebook cigar groups to make illicit profits. No one notices a few boxes at a time.

No one notices a few boxes at a time. Maybe he just got cocky or stopped caring. Seems like he'd been doing it for many many years and his time ran out. Or the wrong person noticed or he made enemies with the wrong person...who knows. As for the la puntilla remark....puntillas look 10x better than the pictures in that article. But 25 yr+ aged cuban tobacco? Very interesting.
