Well we have received all the stock for Xmas sampler offered last week and Lisa is busy putting them together ready for Adam and Lucas to start sending out as soon as they can

 

There is Lisa, busy little elf picking the sticks,  singing along to the songs that the guys in logistics are playing and she comments "Isn't it amazing how neat they pack the boxes to make every cigar fit perfectly, they must be so patient 

Then i hear "I think someone wasn't  as patient as the rest and wanted to go home that day and forgot something " 

 

So we have a request to all who ordered the Xmas sampler, who would like a stick of Partagas Presidente in their sampler without the band, we have 12 available?  

Just a slight edit to this post, I wrote it at the end of the day and was a bit weary. To clarify what exactly i meant, who would like the stick of Partagas Presidente that was included in the sampler with no band instead of one with a band. I didn't mean an extra stick

If so, how long did you stand in line?

I'm thinking about offering my staff double time if they'll stand in line for me and buy it the next time they stock the ABC stores.  I remember people standing in line 48 hr last year though.

I got the ORV 10yr.  Its become stupid how hard it is to get anything better.  Folks were camped outside the liquor store starting on thursday morning for them to go on sale monday morning.  All the 15 years and up were gone by folks who started on Thursday.  I dont have the patience for that so ORV was all that was available.

Was it marked up heavily? Those should only cost about $60 @ msrp. I'm hoping to score one on black Friday if all goes well. I've only ever tried the 12, and it was euphoric.

Yup, Alabama ABC.  I went out there at around midnight the night before.  All I had in me.  Folks started lining up on Thursday morning for it.  Store only got 2x 23yr, 2x 20yr, 4x15yr.  As far as I am concerned, they earned their share sitting out there for 5 days just to buy a bottle a bourbon.

Nope, got it at cost for $60.  One of the good things about ABC, they dont mark up, just have to be willing to stand in line.  They also did the rest of their allocated bottle releases the same day with a tier system so I loaded up.  Picked up the Michters 10yr, Elijah Craig 18yr, Yippee Ki-yay, EH Taylor Single Barrel, Clyde May 10 yr, and some Blanton's since they are never on the shelves anymore. 

I have tried all of them except the 23.  If you can land the 15yr, it is the best one of the batch in my opinion.  I just hate how hard they are to get now.  Too many flippers and folks that just know the name Pappy and want it on their shelves in the bourbon game.  They are meant to be drank, not collected

I know the feeling. I went to a store grand opening last week. 270 people showed up, and they had maybe 30 bottles worth waiting in line for. My ticket was called maybe around 200, and I was number 19 in the door. I left with a blantons 3 hours after the raffle started....

How is the yippee ky-yay? I've seen it around but haven't been able to commit. It was part of the lottery I mentioned, but I've seen it on the shelf at other stores. The other problem with bourbon right now is distilleries are charging crazy prices for stuff that isn't even worth half of the asking price. At least the 4 Rose's limited releases are really good, others not so much.

The EC18 and Yippee Ki Yay are just about my two favorite for bourbon and a rye. Enjoy sir. I managed to score a Four Roses Limited and an 11 yr Bib and Tucker barrel proof and thought I made out alright this bourbon season.
