Hello everyone, I’m think of buying a three cigar gift pack of Siglo VIs.

I’m worried the cedar might have ruined the cigars, does anyone have one or know that is the case?

Cedar might have ruined the cigars? I'd better chuck out all my cigar boxes then.

It could be too much cedar for just three cigars though, no? Isn't that the case with H.Upmann Rubosto Travel Humidor? From what I've heard people tend remove the cigars from the cedar block because it can be over powering.

And what about coffins?

Having just got one of these I can confirm that the overriding smell is the leather rather than the cedar. It's gorgeous!
And yes, is better to take the cigars out unless you keep the HUTH itself in a humidor.

I thought cedar might be overpowering but seems like no one really knows. Guess i will have to take my chances and I will at least get a nice box ?

There is nothing to worry about. The cedar used in storing cigars is known as "Spanish Cedar" and it's used because while it does have a nice cedar aroma, it doesn't adversely effect the cigars inside.  Regular cedar would completely infuse the cigars due to it's strength. Spanish cedar is far more subtle.

Preach! The cigar industry has been using spanish cedar for decades and decades to store and ship cigars. There are no issues!!!

Also, Spanish Cedar is a misnomer--as it is neither from Spain or part of the Cedar family. It is part of the Mahogany family
