In continuation with the Wierdest ___ in regards to cigars threads. What's the weirdest place or time you've ever smoked a cigar? Is there any time that you just found yourself saying, "oh what the hell. I might as well light one up eventhough I'm..."

Personally I would have two. One would be on the Shinkansen Bullet train in Japan. There's just something very unsettling about going 200 mph on the ground in a relatively calm and stable interior, a big cigar helps calm the nerves but I tended to feel a little claustrophobic in those 3 person compartments sucking down a robusto.

The other time I lit up a stogie was one of more deep regret. In the ocean, on a 16 ft rebuilt 60's  glasspar boat with a completely overhauled fiberglass deck and 2x two stroke engines strapped to it's rear. It smelled like I was riding the lawnmower and the day was particularly... turbulent. Guess my sea legs weren't as strong as I thought they once were. Washing off your own puke from the deck is always a great time.

When all the electricity went out just as I was about to light up and enjoy with my TV, book, cigar ritual. I just went and got the battery operated black & white portable TV, put together my candle and easy chair, kicked my feet up and proceeded as planned.  My housemate made some comment about my determination...and LO - everything suddenly came back on.  Good. 'Cuz I was pissed and determined.

Well when I lived in Kuwait, I would light up at 4am when it was 100* F in the summer. Got used to it--didn't bother me. Now I live in Afghanistan, and the temps are much nicer.

I can tell you what was more miserable though. Recently I was at the Atlanta airport, and they have a smoking lounge at Terrapin brewery in there. So I go in and light one up. I am the only one smoking a cigar. The place is full of cigarette smokers. And the ventilation and a/c broke so it was stiflingly hot. I smoked half of a RASS, drank my beer, and got out of there. What a bad idea that was

Those lounges at ATL have always looked like a train wreck when I walked by.  Small area filled with cigarette smokers, oof.

I never went before because I never had cigars on me...but this time I did, and I was committed before I even landed, so I gave it a shot. Learned my lesson.

I have a ritual of smoking a cigar on Chritmas eve while grilling the dinner steaks. There have been a couple of years when I lived in Chicago that it was -10 degrees Fahrenheit with snow coming in sideways with the wind howling trying to grip a cigar with gloves freezing my ass off.  It would be much easier just to shut the grill hood & go back inside to warm up rather than struggling through the cold. Not a pleasant experience but wouldn't dare break tradition.

In the bathtub. My wife was sure the bathroom vent fan would be enough to remove the smoke and wanted me to light one up in the tub. So I did, and she was wrong. It took days to air out.

During the Dust Storm in Brisbane back in 2009.  It was an eerie day to be outside and, perhaps unsurprisingly, absolutely everything was covered in a fine red dust.  So for some stupid reason, I took a longer lunch and headed out for a cigar in this.

I remember that dust storm when it hit Sydney. For days I was finding red dust inside the house. There was no way I was going out in that muck.

Most airport smoking lounges are bad, but the ATL ones are especially bad.  Makes me think that's what the inside of my lungs look like.  I don't remember seeing cigar smokers there before, but most of the times I used it I was a cigarette smoker, and this was pre CC me, so I wasn't stealing discreet glances at bands to see what people smoked
