Popular Post fastkiller13 Posted July 5, 2018 Popular Post Posted July 5, 2018 This is my good friend Ginger. She, like me hates the 4th of July. No we aren’t fans of English rule or colonialism. We hate the fireworks, can’t stand them. They remind me of some terrible nights were the flashes of light and loud pops were in no way indicitive of good times and friendly people. I can’t speak to what they remind her of; I have yet to decipher doggy speak. What I do know about Ginger is that she was brought to my wife from a kill shelter in North Carolina as unadoptable and ready to get the gas. They thought she was a year old because of her size. Due to her injuries and the poor condition she was in the thinking is that she was used to teach larger dogs how to chase as dog racing is/was a thing in NC. When she out lived her usefulness she was put in a garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster. After a year of love and food she doubled in size and started to come out of her shell a bit. Well we just found out from a doggie eye Dr that’s she’s actually about 4 years older then we thought. That puts her around 11. She’s a sweet old girl and her love has helped me more than I can ever put into words. Tonight we both faced our fears and comforted each other out on my back deck. Turns out one of the largest fireworks displays in my state goes off directly behind my new home, perfect right. So if anybody else has some of the same objections to fireworks I do you’re not alone and one mans trash is truly another mans treasure. Nothing is beyond being saved. The cigar is a Trini Coloniales it’s excellent. The company is much better. Ted fastkiller13 12 3
prodigy Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I just spent an hour with my pup shaking for dear life on my lap. Apparently the world is about to end and nothing can be done to stop it from happening. A few years back I took her outside before bed, just as several "mortars" went off courtesy of the neighbors. It's a hard life for a dog under 20 lbs...Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 1 1
luv2fly Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Great story @fastkiller13. Our girls don't like the fireworks and they do nothing for me. No real objection other than they are just too loud. My wife loves them so I will go with her when she asks me too. Thanks for sharing the story. 1
Islandboy Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Great story on you and Ginger...well, the second half is awesome anyway. I’m with you on a dislike for fireworks, it’s hard to see the pets thinking the world is ending twice a year. 2
CaskStrength Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 She's beautiful. There is a special bond with a pet whose life you saved that can't be duplicated. I'm in Canada, but I was amazed that people were bringing their dogs to the fireworks display, right where they were setting them off. I've never met a dog that liked fireworks. 1
cfc1016 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 @fastkiller13 glad you two found eachother. I’m not a huge fan of the fireworks either (or the 4th in general, but that’s another rant). I’ve got pretty bad tinnitus. Big bangs aren’t really my friend, without hearing protection. Most of them I can tolerate, but the high pitched screaming ones make me want to break things. In regards to dogs, it’s an evolutionary defense mechanism. Before domestication, dogs (wolves) slept under the stars. Big bangs meant there would be no stars tonight. Storm’s a comin. In the forest, a thunderstorm means serious danger. A suddenly falling tree could mean the death of a significant chunk of the pack. The dogs who never developed a healthy respectful fear of loud noises, likely didn’t survive to pass on their genes. 2
WarriorPrincess Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Why are there people in the world that harm animals like what poor Ginger went through You ask Rob i can't even watch "David whatever his name is " when he shows nature being nature, I won't get into what I mean. So happy to see she is thriving and with eyes like that you don't want to mess with her Someone should make ear muffs for dogs so they can't hear the fireworks....now there is a thought Happy 4th of July to everyone have a fantastic day ok i will have a glass of wine tonight to celebrate if you insist 4
BTWheezy Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Ginger is lucky to have you Ted, and you, her. Good way to spend a night together. And if you need to relight your smoke, just have Ginger give it a focused stare for a minute or two. Our cats couldn’t care less about fireworks, which I find odd. That said, both are dumber than a sack of hammers, so there’s that. 3

They are called Mutt-Muffs. Of course, in a pinch, you could use a padded bra.... 2 6
WarriorPrincess Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 See that is what i mean .....but I think you might have just given Rob an idea of what to wear when i sing in the car, talk to him at home and rant at work Thanks Fuzz 2
Fuzz Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Ok, but won't Rob look a bit odd wearing a padded bra on his head?... well, odder than usual, that is. 1
ElJavi76 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 @fastkiller13 Max and Ginger are both awesome companions to you. Anytime I go over they're both pretty high energy, with Max leading that parade I'd say. When we first met you told me the story and like some have stated above... Tough to understand how people could harm a pet. Ginger is a good girl and curious as all hell, but more than anything I know she keeps you company. I don't believe in coincidences. She needed you like you needed her. Great story. Great doggie. And you sir have become a great friend. Looking forward to our next cigar alongside Max and your girl Ginger. Hold the fireworks for me too. I don't mind them at a distance, as in somewhere in the NY skyline. Cheers brother! 2

fastkiller13 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 Ginger is also a princess and was very upset about me using those red eye photos of her. So she’s forcing me, with her laser beam eyes of course, to post a few more flattering photos of her. 2 1
LGC Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I have 2 rescues that don’t care for the fireworks. Here’s 1 under my daughter’s bed last night 4
joeypots Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Even the fireworks ten miles away bother my pups. I'm glad you have Ginger. 1 1

stogieluver Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 There's a special place in Heaven for people who take care of animals and give them a good life. Thanks for posting this, Ted. I'm sorry bad things in your past still haunt you today. Thank you for your service and sending the bad guys to hell. 1 2
