If Di is driving, Rob will be focusing on his own breathing technique. Much like Lisa, Di has no feelings in her right foot, and considers the brake pedal an unnecessary optional extra. :P

Hmmm.... how does one spell "demerits", again?

Anyway, a decent performance car will have manual transmission, and I have always found that transmission braking is quite sufficient in most circumstances....

I've got a soft spot for British audio equipment. In the living room, there are a pair of Tannoys with a Rega amplifier and a Schiit DAC. Streaming Tidal sounds sublime, though the room acoustics leave some to be desired. Damn DC rowhouses...

My little Krix bookshelf speakers. Cracker units. As far as Aussie manufacturers go, Krix are it for me, and they probably give most entry to mid-level speaker manufacturers worldwide a run for their money. Coupled here with the Audio-Technica turntable, old Denon amp (out of shot)... sweet listening. IMG_7077.JPG

I haven't heard of them before but you have me intrigued

No room in my single parent inn for a big set up, sadly. However, my listening has been transformed by a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 phones and an Audioquest "Dragonfly Red" DAC. The difference is marked! Just as an eg, I can now hear Cliff Burton's bass on "Ride The Lightning" in a way that I never previously could. It's still getting washed out by the low end of the guitars during the heavier passages but, on the whole, it's like rediscovering my albums all over again

I use to be in the whole home audio thing.  Had a B&O system, then had mix of Cal Audio Labs and Def. Technology...  Then went to nothing in the house for years except a Bose Acoustic Wave radio.  Now, the home is fitted with Sonos stuff throughout.  I find it to be a great balance of sound, ease of use, and technology.   Buy what you need for each room, the phone calibrates the sound and everything just works so seamless. Their subwoofer is must, don't skimp on that if going the Sonos route.  I'd rather go for smaller speakers to afford the sub if that is a concern.
Agree for most general use. If you have existing speakers and amp, then Chromecast audio works well to reuse them.

If you want home theater, there's so much there it's tough. I don't use it nearly as much as I should considering how much time and effort (thought) I put into it. All architectural Klipsch speakers in my setup. Denon AVR. And crown amps. Subs are important for theater, but not as much as sound dampening to other areas of the house. Glad I spent the time and effort there.

Def. Tech with sonos amp in both outdoor deck and screen porch. I would have done this differently today. Really liking the Sonance outdoor setup nowadays. They have a very logical thought to outdoor and whole home audio.

Today, Google Assistant or Alexa integration is important to me.

I don't spend enough time in the car to invest in car audio. Plus my head unit is so interested that I can't easily change things out. Although I could change speakers and add amps, but as I said, don't spend enough time in the car.

Back in the day I used components, especially subs, from a company called Diamond Audio. I don't even know if they're still in business, but they made awesome stuff!

But seriously, when I saw the thread title, I really thought it was secret recordings of the Cuba trip. Full of gossip, slurs and personal insults, and illegal dealings.

Fairly disappointed.

whatever works.

tragically, my best ever Bruce tape compilation died in the tapedeck of the old beamer, although it could still play. could never get it out.

Stock standard Bose in the car and some Grado SR80is and Klipsch S4 headphones all do the trick and sound best when blaring some 70s Grateful Dead.

So Ken, and I ask this sincerely and as a fellow fan of the boss: Has there been a video review recorded from your porch that didn't feature Bruce as a soundtrack?

It's an honest question, as sometimes I can't quite hear what's playing.

In the living room I'm rocking a 3.1 ch setup that I think is dynamite for movies and music. Electrostats can sometimes be too directional, but they really work in this large open room. Great sound stage.

L & R ch - Martin Logan ESL X

Center ch - Martin Logan Motion 50xTi

Sub - Martin Logan Dynamo 1100x

Receiver - Denon AVR-X4700h

Amp - Arcam PA720

I'm also in the midst of shopping for some speaker upgrades for my boat. Welcome any suggestions.

I have a couple bmws which have very great or very ok sound systems. My wife’s X7 has the Harmon Kardon system which really is of excellent fidelity. I have a 2009 E90 M3 and the sound system is weird, the wiring is fiber optic so replacements are very very limited. However BavAuto built some drop in replacements for the 4’s in the door and 8.8’s under the seats. Totally different and really brought the sound alive.
