Cigar and Drink Pairings that Will Make You Drool

Cigar and Drink Pairings that Will Make You Drool

Peanut butter and jelly. Steve McQueen and Mustang. Cigars and cocktails — what a terrible world it would be without classic pairings like these. (Or, really any of these legendary pairings.)

There’s something so beautiful about a perfect combination of sensations and flavors, especially if it’s a luxury cigar and a perfectly-crafted cocktail, hence our motivation for these five cigar and drink pairings, as suggested by Highclere Cigar CEO Adam von Gootkin and Cigar and Leisure expert Brian Ledtke.

It’s time to puff and sip your way to bliss.

I think I'll just stick with my rum and diet coke aka Cuba Libre Lite.  Nothing pairs with CC's like Rum and Coke, imho.

I quite agree, but a Dark n Stormy works well too

Take a highball glass. Add 2 oz Goslings Black Seal, squeeze and drop in half a lime, add ice and fill to the top with good spicy ginger beer.

Bahaha, Revelstoke root beer?! Revelstoke is what I drank as a broke college student before I was actually of legal drinking age. I revisited one of their offerings last year before singing karaoke... it was awful.

Not your fathers root beer..

or..Scotch, single malt at least 12years.

or..a good tawny port, or a good Sauternes, strong coffee, water,

.....

just enjoy the cigar.  All else is speculation

I always thought that a "Dark and Stormy" was an aussie creation!

I like Gin and Tonic as much as the next guy but that does not sound like an appealing option for pairing with a cigar.  Open to my mind being changed though.

As is typical of the stories behind the birth of many cocktails (e.g. Sazerac, Martini etc.), this is another that is disputed. The Gosling Brothers, a Bermuda-based rum company, even went to court over it a few years ago.

No, not disputed, John, as for the origin. Trademarking dispute perhaps, but origin is Bermuda no question about that (not 'Stralia, had you guys even had rum back then?...haha :jester:). Wifey's family lived in Bermuda end of the 60s, early 70s, popular drink there and then (and still is at our house), with use of Gosling's of course...;)

Always wonder about the low popularity of their rums here on the forum. Their Family Reserve is such a nice sipping rum, but even the basic Black Seal is nice and very good value.

A personal favourite pairing / setting is HC7-based Mojito with a Lanceros - and 30 degress outside... Zzzumma!

Prefer a whisky sour to an old fashioned.

In fact been playing with Angostura bitters in my gin and tonic. Works!

A little too much in this one though.ccff2c959108477300a5f17831cbc80d.jpg

I’ve always been a fan of a large mojito when smoking in the summer. In the cooler months I’ll switch to whiskey or bourbon.

Monte 2 and Old Forester Birthday burbon

Still flying the flag for English cider with cigars. Just a perfect pairing for me.

I tried an Ice Cider from Somerset last night. Went down nicely with a Partagas P2 :)

depends.  I'm a seasonal guy when it comes to food and drinks.  Summer here in New England temp.s could reach 95 or even

a 100 degrees with a high dew point.  So in that case a mild CC cigar with a light drink (Gin and Tonic with lots of ice and lime)

or even a lite beer say "Samual Adams" summer wheat beer with citrus added.

Winter heavy drink think "White Russian" or stronge dark German / Dutch beer paired with Part #4 or Monty Petit Edmundo
