Popular Post fastkiller13 Posted May 5, 2018 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2018 So there has been a bit of a heat wave in the NYC area the past few days, highs 80's into the 90's, this situation is made worse for me because I live on the top floor of a three story home. My wife started complaining a few days before the heat wave (screw you weather channel app) that we needed the AC's in the window, yup we have window units stored in the basement FOUR FLIGHTS down. I had no sympathy, I've spent years in the Middle East and West Africa, I can take the heat literally and figuratively and I said you can sweat women. Well I didn't say that but I did think it, she tried using the dogs to sway me, she offered to help (Hahahahaha yeah right). I wasn't budging, I am not in a condition where I should be carrying anything up and down those stairs especially heavy awkward window units. Well the heatwave arrived; it was about 10am and 85 degrees F in the apartment, my dogs were trying to cool of by finding a shady cool spot on the vinyl flooring and panting heavily, I told them I'd run a cool bath for them but the AC's were staying in the basement. I am closing on a home the 30th of this month and I promised myself I would not be dragging those AC's upstairs ever again when all of a sudden it hit me... MY CIGARS! It took every bit of strength and stubbornness I could muster but 5 hours later the AC's were in the windows and my cigars were a cool 70 F, I almost died (well I felt that way) but isn't that what love is truly about: Sacrificing for what is most important to us? I obviously told my wife I did it for her, I told the dogs I did it for them, but gentlemen I TELL YOU, I did it for the cigars! I hope this little story has brought a smile to someones face, hopefully while you were enjoying a great stick. I swear all of it is it true except for only doing it for the cigars, my family is way more important than they are. So go out enjoy a wonderful cigar in solitude or with friends but be thankful for all you have that affords us such a great luxury. Best, Ted aka fastkiller13 P.S. I am going straight up Office Space on those AC units as soon as we move into the new home (central air). Don't worry I'm having the movers carry them down and place them in the garage for the slaughter. ElJavi76 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 @fastkiller13 Ted I told you I'd help buddy. I forgot that Thursday my daughter had prom. I've had my weekend hijacked by family stuff too. First communion today. But as you eloquently stated above... We would do anything for our family. Even if they completely ruin our smoking schedule. LoL I'm not even a little sour. ? 1 1
cigcars Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 *Yes, men can be and are very chivalrous - here and there. This was a time that you're to be applauded for your patience and devotion to the little lady! (LOL)! For myself in relating those kinds of stories...for the most part men have been really, really great as far as lending a helping and rescuing hand to us "helpless femmes!" On the other hand (and this was my experience more in my much younger more physically active days in the military), I had to remark to myself the incidences of when it came to surrendering a seat in a favored location or something to that effect, the statement from the men was in protest - "She a soldier! She can stay where she is! She can stand up!" etc., etc. when they didn't want to be inconvenienced. But I was back to being "a girl" and so on again when they were trying to climb into my panties. I didn't harangue or lecture anyone - they were my friends. But I would just, as I said, remark to myself the 'this way first - the other way second' when it came to some things.
