I think that we can all agree that this release would have much better if it did not have a second band attached to it.  However, it does. So, a couple years after the release what does everyone think of these? With other Churchill on the chopping block how "bad" are these ones? I have never smoked one but are be better off buying Romeo y Juliet, Cohiba and the Sir Winston? I would rather not pay for a second band however if it is in fact a good cigar I mind it less.

Thanks in advance guys!

I didn't mind the ones I split, awhile ago now (maybe 3 years ago). Perhaps I had around 10 and they were fine. However, in comparison to the regular production Churchills, it's hard to beat 16/17 Romeo y Julieta Churchills or current Cohiba Esplendidos or H.Upmann Sir Winstons.

If you're looking for a longer Montecristo, in my opinion, go for the (sadly) unheralded Montecristo No.1. A lonsdale, they're only 5/64ths of an inch smaller in diameter (42/64ths of an inch ring gauge) and 13 mm (around 1/2 an inch) smaller in length but they embody a classic Montecristo flavour profile.

I’ve not had one but the fact that they’re still readily available is interesting. They were released quite some time ago now yet supply isn’t drying up. How many boxes get released with the anejados as they must be limited supply?

Production numbers aren't known, but it's clearly quite a lot, and the supply doesn't seem to have diminished at all in 3-4 years now. I don't think demand for these has been high, but of course production numbers could just be massive. Just another indication that this program isn't what it seems. An ostensibly limited release with what could be well over a million sticks for all the releases doesn't fit with typical special production numbers. Again, the storage space alone needed for these to be aged for 5-7 years would be substantial as we're talking what could be upwards of 250,000 boxes of the four 14-15 releases. And no one has seen or witnessed any storage facility being used for aging these cigars nor have been able to verify storage conditions.

As far as the consensus on the Monte Churchill, I think it it was one of the better received releases. I don't think I've heard that too many people hate it but as is the case with all of them, very few people think they're excellent or at the least worth the premium.

I think there are far better cigars to spend your coin on--as others have said recent RyJ Churchills, Connie A, SW, Monte 1/Especiales.

If cigars were stocks, you wouldn't be investing in them.

The Montecristo Churchill is a fine cigar.   It is too expensive for a "fine" cigar.  For that money you should be getting "great"
