sjmistry Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Hey all, I would appreciate some feedback regarding status of the Monte 80th release. Specifically, how are they smoking? I know that these were first released around Nov/Dec of 2015. Has anyone smoked those recently? How about newer batches (2016/2017)? How do the releases compare (i.e. are the different release batches smoking any differently)? Is the blend and production been consistent? Please let us know your thoughts. Thanks. -Shake
Popular Post mbflash80 Posted December 11, 2017 Popular Post Posted December 11, 2017 broke into my box of TOS DIC 15 over Thanksgiving holiday and I was very satisfied with the smoke...smooth but still with a nice medium kick to it...burned perfectly and had great construction...look forward to enjoying the rest of the box over the next few years... 6
Head83 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The construction on that stick is amazing!!! 1
madandana Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Mine was just ok. It was a bit one demensional and boring. Not sure of the date code as I bought it as a single in Spain. Who knows what I got. 3
Sandman Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I've smoked a ton of these this year, and i'm not a huge Monte fan. Great when fresher, but its sleepy time for them now. Smoked one about 2 weeks ago, and that will be the last for quite some time. Its a great, rich, full flavored classy cigar, but at least to me, they need rest. 1
Hoepssa Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 They need rest. Nice cigars, but much different from other Monte's special release, flavorful but yet to have "wow" feeling after first 4 sticks. 4
Drguano Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Just got my sampler from FOH and was contemplating the 80th as a Super Bowl smoke. Less than 3 weeks to acclimate and from the above reviews, they might not be ready. Anyone have any other thoughts? 1
mrmessy Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 i believe Rob said to rest them for a year....i got the sampler as well and i intend to follow that advice. kind of a downer, get all excited about the sticks...then just have them teasing you as you have them in the humi for a year or more. But then again, that seems to be most cubans. gives you something to look forward to i guess 1
Popular Post Drguano Posted January 19, 2018 Popular Post Posted January 19, 2018 Yes... I’ve decided to go with my Monte 79th Anniversario for this year. 1 5
bwgan Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Smoked one last night. Not hugely impressed, but the first half of the cigar was ruined by odd smoke production...even though an acceptable draw, it switched between hardly any smoke to loads on each puff. The second half was good. These came from the LCDH Koblenz just veggie xmas, so have had a month in my humi to settle Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk 2
Benzopyrene Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Havent smoked one of these in a while, but I have not had a good one yet. Im hoping that changes. All the ones Ive had burned poorly (surprisingly) and they tasted very very young. Will probably wait another 3 years to open another box. 2
TBird55 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Smoked,one from Dec 15 box, Good burn,flavorful, plenty of smoke, enjoyable smoke. 1
