Popular Post El Hoze Posted November 27, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 27, 2017 Like many of you guys, I often use bands as a way to eyeball/estimate the age on a cigar. Cuba being Cuba it's often hard to be very precise. Just opened a box of JUL 14 Siglo Vs to see how they're coming along and realized I had a combo of the most recent (bling bling) bands and the 2008-2014ish bands. To my knowledge I've never had a box with mixed bands (though I've had stranger). Thought this might be somewhat of an anecdotal data point for people like me that like to have some mental idea of when various vitolas of different marcas make band switches. I just lit one....naturally with the oldest band as it must be the most mature!) but likely will lay these down for a bit before digging in more. 5 1
garbandz Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 excellent post, would not expect to see two older bands in a box like this, but since they are Siglo Vs it makes sense. most other brand/sizes I would expect for 2 odd sticks to just "disappear"........... 1
JohnS Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Doesn't surprise me at all. The latest Cohiba holographic bands (Standard band G) started to be used exclusively in mid-2014. I could imagine the staff responsible for banding these being instructed to use up all the older Standard band D embossed bands first prior to using the new (at the time) bands. 2
havanaclub Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Fake I tell you!!! Lol. Go buy a lotto ticket Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ErikB Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Those holographic bands were first used on the Piramides Extra if I recall correctly. (I was at the launch during the festival in 2012)Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk 1

They came with the current Holographic bands right from the onset. 1
joeypots Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 So how are the cigars? Did you smoke one to see how they were coming along? Haven't seen too many Siglo Vs here and I haven't had one for a while. I'd love to hear how yours smoked.
El Hoze Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Hey @joeypots- this box of Siglo Vs are great cigars. I believe the quality has been a little hit or miss as they've been sparce. I believe Sig Vs benefit from time down, but not as necessary as say a Sig III. I'll be closing this box for a few month at least as I like to keep different years laying around as my tastes change. Have tons of old Cohiba robustos and Esplendidos and my tastes have been preferring younger ones. Go figure if that's palate, mind, or different leaves...or all three! 1
