clutch5150 Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Just received this today and the pics do not do this justice. The workmanship of this DM 1962 Balvenie Whiskey Stave Cigar Humidor is simply amazing. The workmanship and attention to detail using very rare Scotland whiskey barrel wood cannot be purchased and was sent to Daniel as he's personal friends with the family is stunning. The interior smell of this humidor is simply enchanting and it will be a very good long aged home for all my new Talisman, 2010 Behike's, Partagas GR's along with some very treasured Pinar del Rio custom blended smokes from my first visit to Cuba over a year ago. Interestingly, the DM shop told me this humidor does not need "seasoning", just add 1oz of the solution and 2oz of distilled water and it's ready. Not sure as it's been activated 5 hours now, and the humidity is still 54% (same as my normal house humidity this time of year along with 68 deg F). We'll see what the next few days results will be before I add the sticks. This special DM humidor came with a bottle of the 12 year whiskey and 2 special pieces of glass wear. I'm honored to now own such an incredible piece of work that will be a family heirloom. prodigy Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 For almost 4 grand I would have hoped it came filled with all the cigars you mentioned. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
Islandboy Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Congrats! Love the character it exudes on the outside, and the elegance of the interior.

Danimalia Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 That's awesome. When I first read your description, I was worried it might make cigars absorb some whiskey flavor, but it looks like the cigars are enveloped in cedar, and it's just the outside that are from the whiskey barrels?
Martin_F Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Very cool! I’d like to see pictures of the glasses too, if you have any?

Me too. I THINK the first unit was not made with enveloped cedar but with the original wood. The unit I have as you stated, the special casks of the barreled whiskey wood are lined and built just on the outside, and the interior consists of all sealed cedar. 1
