Diplomatico Cuba RE

Has anyone tried these and can offer their opinion?  How do they compare to Dip 2?

I love Dip2s with a couple of years on them, but the Excelencia is really extraordinary IMO. One of the best regionals I've had.

Great sticks, more complex than the No. 2 while still sharing the same DNA.  However they are not widely available at this point.

Great cigars, but pretty expensive at this point.  Its a shame so many people price gouged them.

Thank you for all the input.  Been seeing some around lately and wanted to hear some opinions.

It's a very, very good cigar, pricing is subjective - if you are able to go to Cuba, find any and get them for the price there then all is well. If you want to try them and sellers have them on the secondary then expect to pay the premium, those guys have had to search (some harder than others) to get them. People often forget it's a risk for that person who's bought them in and just focus on the pricing.

I've only probably only smoked 2-3 Dip 2, it's a different smoke for sure and not sure I can make a fair comparison for the little experience I've had with both but I prefer the Excelencia.

I have smoked a bunch, don't care for them compared to other RE, we all smoked a blind one last November at the Czar lunch

I don't think it shares a lot of the Dip DNA but that's just me

Will have to smoke another one this weekend to revisit

Agreed. They are nothing like any other Diplomatico I have had. Best I could describe would be young RASS or maybe a slightly stronger version of the Mag 50.

I appreciate the input but ended up passing on the opportunity.  A little bummed but instead, me and the wife will be sitting in the stands for game 2 of the NLDS between the Cubs and Nats tomorrow nigh!  I’m a life long cubs fan and missed all last season in Afghanistan so I saw this as a much better use of money to make memories!!   Maybe next time around or if anyone has a few to share ?
