anacostiakat Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Rob, do you or anyone who participated in the '05 SLR DC cab review we did remember the box code and when we did that? Reason I am asking is that I have had a SOL NOV05 cab buried that I opened not too log ago and started smoking out of. They are delicious. My recollection of our review at the time was that they were somewhat flat and had jumped the shark. These are anything but that. When I looked at the box code I thought it was about time I sampled them. Thinking they would not be anything great. Now I am intent on burning them on a weekly or monthly basis. LMK - Thanks 1
Ken Gargett Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 i can't remember the code but presumably it would be in a thread somewhere. i have a feeling that it was not so much that they had jumped the shark but rather were a little dull at that stage with every hope they would turn into what you have. but it was a while ago and the memory might not be what it was. loved the 05s i have seen, in general. don't have all codes though i do have a Cab of SOL DIC05.

PapaDisco Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 "Jumped the shark?" Can someone translate the Australian for me?? Sounds like the equivalent of "gone round the bend," but why say something is past its prime with "jumped the shark?" 1

Sounds like the equivalent of "gone round the bend," but why say something is past its prime with "jumped the shark?""Jumped the shark" is a reference to the US TV show Happy Days. In it's last seasons it went downhill with the writers desperately trying to keep it going. In one episode the Fonz jumps over a shark whist water-skiing and everyone regards this as the point where it's obviously gone beyond the point of no return.Thunder & Lightening '75-'15 1 2
JohnS Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 @Fuzz and I discussed this topic a while ago. Yes, a few years in they were flat and if it's assumed that they had 'jumped the shark' or peaked, then one couldn't be blamed for doing so based on the evidence. However, Saint Luis Rey is a marca that requires time to mature and I'm not surprised how they've turned out @anacostiakat. It makes it a shame that the Double Corona and Serie A are unavailable at the moment, and that the Regios is the only regular production cigar representing this marca at the moment.
