What to Expect from Cuban Cigars

Recommended Posts

I actually found it to be quite a good article, more detailed and accurate then most articles found in US magazines, that usually limit themselves to bashing Cuban cigars, for the simple fact that they are "unobtainable" there.

Found the comments on the strength of CCs vs. NCs to be the most frustrating part of the read. Utterly inaccurate.

I totally agree. Almost without exception, every CC I’ve had has exhibited a pleasant mix of subtlety, finesse and flavor, while most NC’s enter the room like a bull.

Otherwise, this was a very good article.

Have to agree. A surprisingly good article for such a "lifestile" rag. Not once again focussing on the "bling"-factor or 'big is better' and containing some useful information. I particularly like the inclusion of a repro of the original embargo order. Minor incorrect facts can really be overlooked given the generally fairly well and nicely written bit. At the least, the author seems to be a cigar lover himself and is not just ruminating second hand info. One can feel by his writing (and him answering comments) that he is passionate about it. I will go :thumbsup:as well.

PS - him referencing the RG Lonnie, the Imperiales and the Hoyo DC somehow shows class

Sure, the author name-drops some fantastic cigars, but some opinions suggest me he is not fully experienced with Havanas (stronger than NC, Partagas Serie D#4 beginning with a flavor explosion, etc). Still, good enough intro for the bling crowd without jumping to bling-tastic cigars like some of the multi-banded hog legs we've been seeing/hearing about.

Not terrible, but as others have noted the biggest error is in the strength.  If a Lusi makes him dizzy then an Opus (or several of the old blend Camachos) would give him a stroke!
