Isaac Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 So i have been using one of the FOH lighters. I probably have about two weeks of actual use in the lighter It went on the fritz today, and won't ignite the fuel. I just have the click, when i push on the trigger. Any suggestions on how i can get this fixed? I don't really want to purchase another one, especially since it will be coming from down under. 1
Luca Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Is the igniter arcing properly? Is it bent too far down?Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
El Presidente Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 1. Fill the fuel cell Or. 1. Empty fuel cell and refill. × make sure it is turned up near high 2. Check spaek positioning. Move closer to gas or further away. Test They are pretty sturdy. Let me know how you go

whatsinmybag Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Where might I acquire one of these? I saw one on 24 sale with the ash tray, but are they sold separately? Thanks in advanced. Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk

jackattack Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I was wondering if anyone else has had difficulties. I have two that won't ignite. It sparks fine and there seems to be plenty of gas(quintuple refined butane) flow. I will empty the fuel cell and refill and adjust position of the igniter.....thanks for the heads up!
Fuzz AI Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Check where the spark is going. See the pic below. The spark should be going from the pin to the gas ports. If the spark is hitting the inner or outer shrouds, it will not ignite. Using a small flat head screwdriver, gently push the tip of the pin towards the gas ports. Check the spark again. It should now hit the ports. If the spark is hitting the ports, but it still doesn't light, check the gas flow. Press the button lightly and listen for gas flow. If it is not flowing, turn up the flow on the fuel cell, and check again. If gas is not flowing, check the height of the fuel cell button. The internal rod attached to the igniter button may not be pressing down on the fuel cell gas release button. If these steps fail, it is probably cactus. 4
Philc2001 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Good grief, I have a drawer full of dead lighters... none from FOH though, but I have many including several expensive Collibris that are just junk. In many cases if it produces a spark but won't ignite, it is usually because of either trapped air or clogged gas ports. The first thing I do in that scenario is I release all the gas by pressing down on the refill port. Once it is empty and all trapped air has bled out, then I refill it, wait 5 minutes and give it a try. If it still doesn't ignite I use another torch to see if I can ignite it while holding down the gas button. If after a purge and refill it does won't ignite even from another source of fire, then it's a pretty sure sign it is a problem with the gas ports. I've never successfully revived a lighter with bad or clogged gas ports. For the record I only use quintuple refined fuel, and I take good care of my lighters, but ironically my longest lasting lighters are always the cheapies. It's a shame because if have some nice lighters, but almost all fail from malfunctioning gas ports at some point, some much sooner than others. 1
stogieluver Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Love mine. Lights first time, every time. I use the highest quality fuel (xikar or s t DuPont); anything less clogs the jets of a torch lighter. 1
TheLiquidGator Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Mine is on the fritz as well. It only lights when I press down hard on the top part and pull the trigger at the same time. It works then, but it is a two hand operation. Anyone else have this problem or a solution? Thanks

ElPuro Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I use one of these. It is a beast: http://www.elighters.com/blz-gb4103.html Can probably find a better price if you search.

shlomo Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Never bought the FOH version, but the identical one is available at local shops, sans logo obviously. Bought a few. Every one I have had has been mediocre quality at best, but some of my close friends swear by them. Just luck of the draw I suppose. Good of Rob to replace. Local shops won't unless within 30 days and with a receipt.
LLC Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I have the Iroda version which is the same and use it when I travel. It has worked flawlessly for a couple of years; I use the same top grade fuel as I use in expensive lighters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
