El Presidente Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Came across a beautiful seam of Monte Petit Edmundo yesterday. Toasted almond wrappers with sheen. At time when quality wrapper is tough to find, you would think they would get it right. Almost every box in the master case was overfilled/plugged. MEG to boot .....normally a good code. What a waste. I suspect it had been raining for a few days when these were rolled and the tobacco was overly damp. The end result is a beautiful box of dowels. 2
havanaclub Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 That's too bad. Prez, you have a photo of the foot? How do you determine it is plugged other than smoking it? Looking at an overfilled foot? With no give ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
devildoge9 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 that's too bad... Monte PE has become a favorite of mine...
westg Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Oh dear ,,,hard to believe I am almost out of these little babies.. thank christ we have you at the helm RA 1
Notsocleaver Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I'm missing something here. If they were too wet when rolled, wouldn't it just be a matter of dry boxing? Wouldn't the expected problem be that the tobacco was too dry, and once humidified to better levels it then ends up too tight?
Spanishcedar Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Send them to me Rob, I need to stress test my new perfecdraw tool... This is all for the sake of science, posterity, and all that other heroic stuff I will not not enjoy it.
Winchester21 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Wow what a bummer. One of my best sticks at present is the Monte PE. Like The previous post indicated I would break out the Perfect draw tool for this problem Nothing worse than a beautiful cigar that turns out to be plugged???

If tobacco leaves are too dry when rolled, the cigar will likely burn hot and be brittle, especially the wrapper. On the contrary, when the tobacco leaves are too damp when rolled, like in this case, then what tends to happen is that as the leaves dry they expand, which results in plugging. 3
RijkdeGooier Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I've heard of people re-rolling this kind of cigars. Ie taking of outer leaf and binder and rerolling them as 'yard gars' 2
Wertman Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I just got two boxes of Monte PE recently and they are awesome. What a shame. But thank heavens we have you or else everyone would have bought them not knowing about the plugging issue.
