I received a box of siglo 2s from 24/24 2014 aged stock red psp sticker. Packed in cardboard tubes. Presently enjoying it with a 7 yr old Havana club rum and coke. This is my first go with aged Cohibas  Typically iI smoke the hell out of them until the supply is depleted. Now I get it. The burn is perfect. The flavor more complex. Any hint of sharp edge is gone. I have had mixed results in my attempts at aging most likely due to too high a humidity. Any suggestions on how much longer I should age this box to get the max return. Any suggested parings?  This is a truly fantastic smoke. I can't detect any ill effects from the cardboard tubes

It seems that almost all of the last few years of Cohiba needs around 18 months minimum to really begin to blossom. I don't know of any other marca that experiences such a pronounced "sick period" right now.

I've sampled quite a few Cohibas since 2012-2013 and fresh they are almost always disappointing, yet turn around completely after a couple years.

This was absolutely not the case with Cohiba until about 11 or 12 as I recall smoking many Cohibas fresh from 07-10 that were excellent. So apparently this new strain has different properties, and it is good to know they are coming around though--we just need to be a bit more patient than in the past!

I totally agree. I have been smoking Cohibas for 15+ years. The most memorable ones were from years back. I find the latest run of siglos in particular to be enjoyable in their youth but after smoking these aged examples I do need to be more patient and smoke my other stuff. Thanks for your reply

Winchester thanks for the advice I don't get to smoke often and keep buying so by default I will have aged stocked in the next couple of years.  Now i just have to find the perfect cigars to age next box going to b COROs or siglo ii

I don't have a lot of Cohiba stock, and most all of the Cohiba stock I do have has 2013 box codes.  All are from El Pres.  I have purposely tried to hold off smoking them, but over the years I have been weak, and smoked one here and there.  I wanted to reach that magic five year milestone when, most say, Cohiba's reach, or begin to reach their peak.

I'm sitting here smoking a Siglol VI from 2013.  Four years old.  Not the magic five, but damn.  This thing is blowing me away.  One absolutely fantastic smoke.  I now get it.  I will be ordering more.  The premium price is hard to swallow, but it is worth it if you have the patience to let them age to that magic mark.  Now, I wish I had not been so weak and wasted all those I smoked over the last four years.

In August my first Cohiba robusto box will reach the 'magic' five year mark. Its been an exercise in disciple, but I'm looking forward to seeing if they are as great aged as everyone says.

I have a '14 box of Sig II's that I have been smoking out of that are just lovely.  Such an enjoyable smoke! I have a hard time thinking they could get any better with more time down.

I have an '11 box of Sig III's that are amazing but could probably lay down for one or two more years and I had a medio siglo in Italy that maybe needed six months more to rest.

Welcome to Cohibas :)

I like Cohibas best. I'll take an aged Siglo VI over just about any big fat LE or RE any day. I keep other sticks on hand so I don't blow through them too fast and can let the cigars get enough time to shine. Once a box is on it's hard to keep my mitts off it.  Looking at my wallet I see that a regular diet of 15$ sticks is too much for me. I keep my supply of under 10$ cigars on hand and save  Cohibas for those moments when I want something very special.

I am setting this box back for 2 more years after reading this thread. I have most of a box of medio siglos that I will not touch for at least 2 years before sampling. High hopes for a great smoking stick They are PSPs??
