... I am sorry, a Mayor with that attitude should be removed. I would suggest a few rugby players toss him in a dumpster! -Piggy

Khan has spent an awful lot of the last 24 hours talking and to pick this one thing to quote is unpleasant at best. We don't need your input thanks, we'll get on fine without it here in London.

The words were unfortunate, but the attitude is common.  Within a few hundred yards in every direction from my front door there is the site of an IRA bomb attack.  This never for a moment stopped me from walking the streets of London.  My step-brother works right by London Bridge and walks across it most days ... and he will continue to do so.  Terror will not stop us from leading our lives.  And hard as it may be to deal with, terrorism has bene with us for a long time now and will continue to be part of our lives.  Sadiq Khan merely acknowledges this reality.

Every society has its share of problems. Armchair quarterbacking is a popular pastime... no matter where you go! My comments were addressed at the comments that I read, and I did not mean them to be alienating to my brothers and sisters from the British Isles.

My apologies if I have offended any of you.

No offence taken.  These are always emotional times, and the flood of unfiltered media eructations certainly does not help.  Sadiq Khan's comment may have been unfortunate (especially out of context), but I believe it reflects a reality we have to come to terms with, however unhappily.  And for my money, he is also being rather more constructive in his reaction than indulging in the Blame Game -- even more popular than armchair quarterbacking, if that is possible -- which is already well underway.

On that note: kudos and thanks to the police and emergency services.  There couldn't be a better bunch of people, and they made all the difference.

actually, my understanding is that was a quote from several months ago, back in March, and had nothing whatsoever do do with responding to the latest tragedy. this is a major part of the problem we have. people coming out with false statements for their own purposes and agendas.

not having a go at fullm/c - rather at the endless politicians and their ilk and especially the fruitcake media who support the various agendas whatever they may be, around the world who twist these things for their purposes. do we really need to do that? we had our own grubby corrupt political garbage using yesterday for their own agenda.

anyone who thinks yesterday was in anyway not truly appalling, truly unacceptable and worthy of the strongest response surely has their own issues. but does it help to come up with misquotes and misrepresentations.

i believe that what he said, several months ago after an attack in New York, was...

"Mr Khan told the Evening Standard: ‘It is a reality I’m afraid that London, New York, other major cities around the world have got to be prepared for these sorts of things. ‘That means being vigilant, having a police force that is in touch with communities, it means the security services being ready, but also it means exchanging ideas and best practice.’"

i don't know much about this guy (and yes, London has a track record of seriously odd choices for lord mayor - ken livingstone anyone?) but what the hell has he actually said that deserves such a response?
