archosaur Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Great stuff, thanks for posting! Seems like Aspergillus will surely show up in the mold analysis, I wonder if we will see Penicillium, or other genera as well? Fascinating stuff for a science nerd. Does anyone know if adding sterilizing agents to cigar glue ever became industry standard, and is it practiced in Cuba?
FatPete Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 The glue being the culprit kinda makes sense. Amazing that they were so scientific back in 1914
Ryan Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Thanks for sharing that. Very interesting read. From the last page, speaking about Boric acid. "Great care should be taken not to use more paste on the cigar than is necessary, since it is liable to be smeared on the surface of the cigar, where the Boric acid in the paste tends to crystallize, giving an appearance suggesting mold." Could this be a description of plume?
Spanishcedar Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I love it when a research study's results actually help to mitigate the problem, it's like a happy ending. Thanks for the read!
