JUst lit up one from one of the more recent 24/24. Jumping from probsbly 2006 or 07 to 2016 on these boys.

great flavor, but nothing like I remember them. One of my more novice friendly cigsrs bsck in 2007.  This 2016 tastes far more complex.  Not too strong/full or anything, but very different than what I recall.  I kinda felt they were one dimensional, but a demension I loved as someone new to habanos. Feel I'm getting a myriad of flavors with these new ones. Enjoying, but think they might need a couple years to settle down and mellow a bit.

anyone else notice this change or is it maybe just my palate?

I noticed this as well. Chalked it up to my fault since I ignored robs advice to dry box them for at least 60 days if they won't be down for at least a year. Really oily sucker, and definitely one i feel would improve with age

Ditto. Just dived right in on em.

Mellowed a bit 1/2 way in but still not as I remember em. Not like I'm the same as I was in 2006 or 7!

I guess I'll hold off for now (a year or two?). Got the same box from 24:24 as a novelty/nostalgia cigar, just like you rhcolberthad a box 10 years ago and it was mellow and mild, though flavorful. Don't want to be smacked in the face with power from this little stick, I have Partagas for that :D

Give it some time. Probsbly not much but a year or two.

I don't think Rob ever said to dry box anything for 60 days. His usual advice, which may have been misunderstood, is to let them acclimate to your humidor's rH for 60 days upon receipt from Oz before smoking from that box

Dry boxing generally means to move your cigar from your humi's rH to a dryer climate, say 55%-60%, for 2-3 days.  You probably meant to say "let them rest for 60 days".

For a little while, we didn't have El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme around in 2016, and now it's come back, appearing 3 times in the last month on 24:24, all SGA OCT 16 boxes. Since 24:24 posts get taken down daily, it's understandable to mix up Rob's instructions on these which have been the same the last three times they've appeared on 24:24...

"If you are going to smoke them this year then dry box them after 30-60 days in your humidor."

How long to dry box for? Yes, as @stogieluver mentioned, 2-3 days, depending on your climate where you reside. If you can go up to 5 to 7 days, even better!

Seems there are quite a few cigars that really picked up in strength and flavor recently. JL S1 & S2 are as strong as they've been in decades. The Dip 2, Hoyo Du Prince and RAPC have really shown incredible character in the last few years, and more strength. It seems the ERDM CS is in the same boat.

When a cigar like the CS shows early strength and flavor it really makes me happy as they are cigars that just age so beautifully, even very long-term. Sounds like recent production will be worth holding onto.

I stand corrected.
