Jbhunter223 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Hey everyone, For those of you that have been on a Caribbean cruise, is it worth stopping at any of the LCDH? I've never been so I'm looking for a little insight. We leave from Puerto Rico, stop at St. Kitts, St. Thomas (not sure where this one is), Curaçao, and Aruba. Any cigar shops worth stopping at in these places? I'm guessing lots of fakes, is it worth even trying to buy cigars? thanks, Jayme
Jimmy_jack Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Why wouldn't it be? I'm going to St Martin on a cruise in June. Supposedly there is an LCDH on the French side. Gonna look for old stock. If they have some, awesome. If not, I doubt I'll leave empty handed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Jbhunter223 Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Just didn't want to get my hopes up I suppose. There's a couple LCDH along the way I plan on stopping, just wondering what to expect is all since I've never been to this part of the world. Wasn't sure what prices would look like either. I agrees with you it's worth looking you never know what you may find!

Never has been one in the past. I didn't realize that, but there's one in Aruba and one in St.Kitts I'm hoping to check out.
NSXCIGAR Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Not sure if you're stopping at St. Maarten, but the Cigar Emporium at Front Street # 66 in Philipsburg seems to have some interesting stock, but I would be scrutinizing the hell out of it. I've heard some have been happy with their purchases there, but anything outside of an LCDH in the Caribbean is always prime for fakes. 1
rhcolbert Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Shop in Barbados was awful; not an lcdh tho. Battle holes in everything.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There is cigar store not far from where your ship docks.....walking distance. You'll see the "boardwalk" area - go one block inland. Unit - 1, 66 Front St, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten Its the "Cigar Emporium" - go upstairs. They're not LCDH, but they're legit. http://www.cigaremporium.biz/ You'll also see tons of little guys in "stalls" selling cubans - fake city! The LCDH is at 71 Port La Royale, Marigot, St. Maarten - you'll need a taxi. Cheers 1

Looking forward to the stop at the LCDH in St Martin too. Anyone, any experience with Bermuda? Particularly how are prices?

The shop (no Casa) in Curaçao was shocking, the worst I've seen so far in any cigar shop! Glue traps spread out all over the shelves to catch the beetles!? It was a mess in all the boxes that I looked at! There was a Cuban inspired restaurant in town, MR Congas. They happened to have a roller sitting outside in the evenings for a few days while I was there and I loaded up on some Edmundo sized fresh rolled sticks. The Casa on Aruba was OK, nothing special or vintage in stock but no beetle problems. Enjoy the cruise!!! Leif 1

The prices are crazy high and nothing really with age on it. Montecristo No. 2 was over €400 and Upmann Connoisseur 1 was €300
Jbhunter223 Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 Good info! Thanks for the replies everyone. May just grab a bunch of singles that I've been wanting to try.

Jbhunter223 Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 Back home from the trip, picked up 2 boxes and a bunch of singles. Will update later, had to work today. The boxes were a 13 box of sancho panza non-plus. And a 16 box of HDM Du prince.
Jbhunter223 Posted April 27, 2017 Author Posted April 27, 2017 Finally got some rain so we're not in the fields today. On my trip I stopped at the LCDH in St. Kitts, small shop not a lot of stock. The cigar guy was nice and helpful, the oldest sticks they had were some 06 Partagas Coronas Gordas Anejados, and some 07 Hoyo de Monterrey Hermosos No.4 Anejados. Pretty highe price wise. I found a 13 box of Non-plus I bought along with some singles. There was some mold on some of the singles they had out but no beetle problems. The next stop was curaçao, there were two shops on the island and were both expensive. Both had a lot of stock and seemed to be well kept no mold or beetle issues. All regular production stuff, nothing old or "special" and didn't find anything older than '14. The last stop was Aruba. Went to the LCDH in the mall, decent sized humidor with tons of stock, the most of all the shops I stopped in but all regular production and nothing too aged. They had 8 boxes of du prince so I bought one, very expensive but I haven't been able to find these so I went for it. Overall it was neat to look through everything in person but online prices are much better. If anyone has specific questions on anything your more than welcome to shoot me a PM.
