This is for those who like to use a V-cut occasionally on their cigars.  Which of these do you prefer and why?  Which gives the better cut?

Xikar VX Keychain, Xikar VX Full Size or Colibri.

Xikar VX full size.  Prefer it over the Colibri because of the lifetime warranty.  And I still have a bitter taste in my wallet from buying and using crappy Colibri lighters.

I also love my full size Xikar VX cutter. Very reliable!

I prefer a guillotine or punch, but the xikar full size is my favorite v cutter.  I like that it can be used to set a cigar down on if I don't have an ashtray handy.

I own them both. I prefer the Colibri, it can make a wider & deeper cut. But, if preferred, one can also make a shallower cut by not setting the cigar in the center of the cutter, but more to the edge.

However, for most cigars, I prefer using a very sharp, thin bladed pocket knife to make a straight cut that removes the tip of the cap.

I am looking at getting a Colibri as well.  They look nice and I heard good things.

I have the Xikar. Has worked fine for many years and is still sharp. Every now and then I chuck it into a bath of warm soapy water to clear of any residue and make it slide easy. Comes out just like new.

2nd that....love my thin blade pocket knife for clipping off the cap.   guess I'm just 'old school'

And besides, the pocket knives can be kept extremely sharp. The blade steel on my pocket knives is superior to that used in dedicated cigar cutters.

But you don't need 'fancy' or expensive. A well sharpened Swiss Army Knife will do the job nicely.

At the risk of going too far off-topic...

I use a SAK when I'm camping, just cos it's on me all the time and like you say, does the job nicely.

I have both.  I use the colibri on the heavier ring gauges and the xikar on thinner ring gauges.

Love the heft of the colibri.

Love the curvature of the xikar that doubles as a cigar rest.

I use neither, but only because I don't own them. My interest is piqued, so let us know what you decide, and then your thoughts.

As a fast pace cigar smoker I love the V-cut as it's the only type of cut that is less prone to tar build-up.  And yes I've tried pretty much every cut imaginable including biting the cap off.  Yes yes I know slow down as there's no benefit to smoking fast.

Have two of the xikar full size and love them.   Also (for the same price) I have a quad on the back porch that just stays there waiting for me...
