Popular Post Ryan Posted January 14, 2017 Popular Post Share Posted January 14, 2017 Film-maker Eugene Jarecki went to Havana for a TEDx talk and made this short film while he was there. So many scenes and even people in this will be familiar to many here who have been to Cuba As a film-maker though, he captures so much beautifully. He also manages to gain decent insight into the Cuban situation in the short time he had there. As soon as I saw was driving on the road to Pinar del Rio at night-time though, I kind of knew something "not good" was going to happen. It has relevance to the other thread regarding the safety of driving in Cuba. It worked out fine in the end for him, but he was in Cuba on official business as a film-maker so may well have had favourable treatment. La Guarida is there in the ballet scenes and the place where the accident happened is midway to PdR where there are some old aircraft shelters left & right the highway ( old MiG shelters, the highway was used as an airfield so the divider is removed ) Without his official business status he would have been fined, passport taken away and would have spent 4 months in Cuba ... so I guess he was extremely fortunate the Cubans didn't want bad press .... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

His father actually owns the largest private island in the Caribbean.....I have been fortunate enough to have stayed and smoked more than a few cigars there. I've said this before and I know very well how cliched it sounds, but there's something that happens when spending time with Cuban people.
