That could have totally gone a different direction.  I thought for sure you were going to say:

Call me sappy, but my favorite thing in the whole world is working my wood.

Which I guess in the end, did put a smile on Z's face.

Kudos, nice work.

Bwaaaaaaahahahahahahaaaaaa!

Thank God those are not saggy drawers as we see every day on the street these days…

Look damn fine. Hope to be able to make something like that for my icebox humidor next week. Have the whole week off to get that thing converted and brought into the house.    Drawers like that would look fantastic .   Nicely done  Hurltim!!

They look really well made, but the gaps in the bottom seem really... spacious...

It was a toss up. One more diagonal piece would have made the spacing too tight (airflow would be restricted IMHO).
I tested it out with an HUHC and a few others and it was fine. Pictured is an HUPC and a BRC. It's not as wide as it looks because the drawers are smaller for the smaller Newair model.

Looks awesome. I have been wrestling with a similar spacing issue for the bottom of the trays I need to build, and this helps quite a bit. Very nicely done!

On these smaller shelves/drawers, it is a bit tougher. I wouldn't go thinner on the slats (I think these are an inch). cutting the tenon (on a 45 deg miter, 1" piece of wood) gets a bit hairy if the wood gets any thinner. You could cut the tenon on a larger piece first, then rip 1" pieces off of it but it wastes a lot of lumber. I am sure there is more that one way to skin this reindeer. :)

Thinking about giving @Hurltim a shout for some singles containers for my ice box humidor.  Will be starting the (very minor I think) rehab today, and while I thought about keeping singles in old boxes I really have so many in such varied sizes that similar drawers might be the ticket.  Great stuff.  ;)

I am just about out of Spanish Cedar so give me a little lead time. I have one board 1/4" thick (5.25" by 42") and one that's pretty close to 3/8ths thick with the same dimensions.

I am working out of town currently so the only time I can work on them is the weekends. We just need to plan ahead and get the dimensions perfect--that's all.
