I can't seem to login to photobucket...  Had some other oldies I was going to post.  I sold that box about 8 years ago along with several other pre-Castro, pre-Embargo boxes.   The current owner of this box may have them available for sale in the future.  They were bought as investment and I believe none have been smoked.

TEASER!  Just kidding.  Hopefully you'll find the password and be able to post.  I saw that other cab of Dunhills in the background that looked interesting as well:P

Here's a picture of a few boxes that were sold.  Two cool boxes were Dunhill "Monte No. 2's" in 50 cab cardboard.  They were in three rows.

Photobucket is dog slow and too hard to browse my pictures...

We made a lot of money...  Some of the buyers were well known domestic collectors (who will remain unnamed).  Other boxes were sold to a friend as an investment at the time (does not smoke cigars).  I smoked 5-6 from a few different boxes (with broken feet, etc..)  It's been a while, but I thought the cigars averaged around $150 each.

Wow is all I can say.  Where did you stumble upon the collection in the first place?  Single source?  Would love to know the back story on these:P

Can I have one? Please?

To answer everyone's questions...

These boxes were part of an estate of a wealth gentleman in VA and were stored in his wine cellar.  The cigars were an afterthought to the family.  They were more interested in selling off the wine collection and his Rolls Royce's...  A friend of mine who's a big 2nd market wine vendor bought the wine cellar and cigars.  He did not have connections in the cigar trade, so offered to split the profit with friend and me.  Most of the boxes were we full & complete.  All of the boxes were from right before Castro or right before the Embargo; legal to sell and advertise on forums.  There's a thread on ICC when these cigars were offered; I haven't post on that forum in several years (Since Wayne left & ownership changed).  There were candela wrapped PL's along with various Dunhill rebranded cigars.  Habanos should relaunch PL's with Candela wrappers!

What was interesting, we received very similar quotes from single buyers (merchants and collectors) for the whole lot as one deal.  We ended up dividing the boxes between a few source to maximize our profit.  I was fortunate to try a few cigars, but at the time, 3K USD boxes were out of my league!  The quality of wood used on the cab's was much nicer than today and rolling quality was high.

If the person who bought several boxes as an investment ever decides to sell, I assume they'll lean on me to help out.  I'll surely post them onhere...

I still have a few Punch Churchills from that collection, they were actually the best tasting of the lot if I remember correctly. I've got more pictures that I'll post to add to this thread..I just need to dig them out.
