 Hello all,

I apologize if this has been covered in another thread, but I looked and couldn't find the answers I'm after.

Its clear to me that custom rolls don't replace the "real deal". My question is what are they exactly? Are they good aged? Are they more of a "yard gar"? If y'all could help a newbie out, I'd appreciate it. The mystery of them, along with the price, appeals to me. However, I don't want to be smoking the equivalent of Rocky Patel factory seconds either.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Dennis

They can be all of those things, depending on who is rolling them. Access to good tobacco is key, and some times even the most renown rollers can't lay their hands on the good stuff. Sorry, there isn't a general answer to give, they are custom products after all. The best advice I can give is to research the specific person you are getting your cigars from, because it will always vary.

I wouldn't know can't seem to get customs here in Australia!

the only source i know doesn't seem interested in aussie customers!

Can't get basic information back like payment methods & postage costs!

Business must be to easy state side!!!

So much for looking to buy 10 bundles over next 6mths.

I'm sorry about your dilemma, but that doesn't answer my questions or make for decent feelings between BOTL's. If you've got a bone with someone, pick it elsewhere, not on my thread.

well, they are Cuban tobacco rolled in Cuba by Cubans. Sometimes at hotels, or a cigar shop.

They are outside the factories, yes, but I have  some said to be from the La Corona factory,so that confuses things.

I very much enjoy the ones I have, and have heard stories of the marvelous customs rolled by rollers no longer with us or no longer in Cuba.

Sometimes a roller is allowed to travel to countries outside of Cuba and take the tobacco with him,to do a session of hand rolling at a LCdLH,or at the shop of a famous vendor.

Sometimes a roller may set up at a farm and roll what is grown there.

The big difference as I see it is the blend, and the available tobacco these rollers get.

With a little age they can be excellent smokes.............

He's not the only one having a "problem" with the guys who sell customs on cigar boards. It seems like accepting money from european members and shipping a bundle to Europe is the most complex and frightening task… just saying…

I'm not denying anything. I just really would rather not get involved in someone else's battle and in something I can't control. I hope that's ok.

Thank you! That gives me an idea of what I'm looking at. I appreciate the answer.

This is a pretty good, fairly recent thread regarding favorite custom rolled cigars.  This is a FoH link

customs link

Some customs are way better than most regular production cigars because they can be rolled by master rollers.
