Webbo Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Having had the pleasure of trying a couple I would love to get hold of a cab, it seems they are nowhere to be seen. Are they discontinued or is production just on hold (if so why)? One of the reasons Habanos and their business models makes me crazy.
Homer Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand.aspx?brand=saint_luis_rey It's not discontinued.
potpest Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 There is no definitive answer to this with Habanos being the way it is...definitely no production at the minute, along with the Hoyo Des Dieux et al. They are both by far my favourite cigars and nowhere to be seen. I'm reluctant to smoke any I have until they are back on the shelves. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
rootsrock Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hard to find, also looking for these after having smoked one very recentlySent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TheMonk Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Used to be an excellent cigar (I say used because I haven't seen a boxcode from this decade), but it does seem to be sold out pretty much everywhere for years, even though it is not officially discontinued. I do hope that when they bring it back (if they ever do), it continues to be an excellent DC - definitely one of my favorites in this size, along with the Lusis.
Smallclub Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Reminder: the SLR DC has ALWAYS been rare. This cigar is not rolled every year, just like the Sir Winston and a few others. In the mid 2000's in Paris, when a shop managed to get a cab, the info spread on cigar forums at light speed. 2

Actually nothing to worry too much about. Go back in history and you'll see that the SLR Prominentes has always been in discontinuous production, quite like the LGC MdO 2, as it is the least popular of all DCs and SLR has historically only been available to particular markets (UK only until early 90s). The current wrapper shortage seems not to be of great help in this regard. I am sure they will return when circumstances allow. It's one of those "Grab 'em while you get 'em" cigars! 1
smokin.joe Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I have a cab of the SR DC purchased at least 4 years ago. This cigar is in my top 3. I have been looking reguarly for more over the last 2 years. nothing to be found. Interesting is now the SR Series A is nowhere to be found.
Mr.T Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I have a cab from 05 and 2014. I'm half way through the 05 cab and love them and have not touched the '14 cab. These really need a few years down before they give you a glimpse of what they are capable of. Definitely some of my prized possessions Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bwgan Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I'd buy one a cab as soon as I saw it, no questions asked......shame I havent seen one
jackupster Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I have about 8 left from a split with a friend. Box code is 2014 I believe. He has the box so I'm not 100% sure. It's 2013 at most. They are GOOD!
NSXCIGAR Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Thread on the SLR DC a few months back that's worth reading until the end if you're interested in possibly locating some...
