Ken Gargett Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 am i the only one for whom the new british prime minister looks a hell of a lot like harriet jones, the female british PM in doctor who? we can only hope that she doesn't go so far off the rails and doesn't suffer a similar fate (those pesky daleks just keep killing people).
JohnS Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Oscar Wilde was spot on when he mentioned that quote about life imitating art.
Fuzz AI Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 And we learn something new today. Ken is a Whovian! 1
Fuzz AI Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 To be honest, the first time I heard Theresa May was running for the top job, I thought it was ex-glamour model "Teresa May".
Hypersomniac Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Theresa May Penelope Wilton (Harriet Jones - Doctor Who) You're not crazy Ken, I see a resemblance.

Honestly @Ken Gargett I was thinking the exact same thing.. Freaky! Look out London!

Ken is a Whovian! we learn another thing. there is a word 'whovian'?? loved tom baker when i was much much younger - even have one of those scarves. eccelston was not bad, tennant the finest dr W ever with daylight (and baker) second; matt smith was so awful i stopped watching (and amy such a pain in the arse i would have left her on the nearest dalek-infested planet as fast as i could); capaldi - massive fan of him in 'the thick of it' (think that is the correct name) and other shows but a little underwhelmed with him as dr W so far. perhaps because they all fail to measure up to tennant.
scap99 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I liked Smith. Loved his clumsiness. Capaldi is a great darker more serious version. Tennant was just great.
ayepatz Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 As much as I like Tennant, the fake English accent always grated with me. Capaldi is much better accent-wise, but I'm still waiting for him to break out into a full-on Malcolm Tucker F-bomb rant. Tom Baker will always be the definitive Doc for me, but I suspect this is mostly a generational thing. My best pal is only a couple of years older than me and he swears by Jon Pertwee. 1

As a Glaswegian, for me it was the missed opportunity to have a Timelord with a Glasgow accent, which is Tennant's own accent. This has now been done via Capaldi. But Tennant's fake English accent still rankles. lol Actually, if memory serves, there was a Tennant episode in which the Doctor "put on" a Scottish accent, which was, in fact, Tennant's own Glasgow accent!

Tom Baker is the quintessential Doctor for me. Pertwee was good, but it always grated with me when he introduced himself as "John"... that and he will always be Worzel Gummigde, to me. Doctors 1 & 2 were well before my time, and the ABC rarely aired their episodes. Davison was ok, Colin Baker was annoying (more so because of Peri, but she was good to look at). Quite like McCoy's Doctor, but Tennant was better.
Williamos Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I'm particularly fond of Tom Baker's post Doctor Who voice over work: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
