Just got back from my trip to Varadero. Stayed at the Blau Varedero. What a great hotel, great food and amazing staff. My daughter (2) had so much fun and wife loved the much needed rest.

Took a little trip to the city to buy some souvenirs and also a little treat for myself at the LCDH on calle 62. Purchased RA Club Allones LE 2015 (2 boxes) HDM Epi Esp and also got a Diplo RE Cuba ( lady said it was the last one she had). Then went to Plaza Americas and found a roller by the name of Alfonso rolling some customs. Got 5 coronas and 5 pyramid from him. Amazing guy. Even took the time to take photos with some tourists.

Overall great trip. Thanks to everyone here for past recommendations on what to get. Thank you

Not at all. I had an updated price list that was bang on accurate at both locations 63rd and Plaza.

This is what I took with me. http://yulcigars.blogspot.ca/

The hotel I stayed at had increased prices then at the LCDH and the airport as well. My dad went the week prior and grabbed magnum 50, Monte 2 and 4 and the prices from the link above stated were accurate.

That's good to hear.

We must have been there at the same time! The missus and I just got back today. We were in the Blau Varadero Cayo Libertad, which was great until Raul and his entourage moved in and nicked the good chef!

We had 4 days there with three in Havana before that. Managed to bring home home a few customs from Alex, Yolanda and Reynaldo, but never saw the Diplos anywhere. Lucky find mate!

Great finds and it is good to hear that nobody tried to rip you off. Trying to get some pals together for a trip myself soon. I want to get back there.

Alfonso at Plaza Americas? Thats ne

That's what my feeling was as well.

I only heard there was a roller at Calle 63, but when I went to Plaza there were people taking pictures while he was rolling. I asked for his name and he said Alfonso and I took some pictures with my wife and daughter with him and bought some cigars from him.

Ive heard the stories of getting ripped off. I'm not as experienced as most here only being 30 years of age but when I went last year they were trying to rip me off at Plaza. Just grabbed a few 3 packs. But this time I came prepared and got what I wanted at the price it was suppose to be.

Did he look like Dennis Dexter Haysbert ?

Called it first!

You did , and now we know where he disappears too when not at 63. Good to know when short on time in Varadero .

I'm surprised to hear that the Calle 63 store in varadero had State prices. I was there in Dec. 2015 and everything in the store was 20 cuc above the yul list. I asked why and was told to go to plaza America. ...which I promptly did to find correct pricing and great service.

In all fairness to the Calle 63 store in Varadero i should amend my earlier post...friends purchased a couple of boxes there in July and prices are A-OK now. Isn't that strange?

I was in varadero in July and found the prices at Calle 63 to be spot on. Although the prices for Cohiba and some montecristos was above the state price. This was the same at plaza America too. The prices in Havana were the same as those listed on yul.

Hello all.  Surprised to see this thread at the top of the page when I checked in (May) .  My dad just came back and said that Plaza was spot on, on all except for Cohiba.  20 or so CUC above listed price
