Popular Post El Presidente Posted May 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 9, 2016 Not something that happens every day. Watching a movie yesterday evening and wrapping up for bed. In walks a Wood Duck. No, not a domesticated duck...just a wild duck with one hell of a set of cojones and a nice touch of attitude. The TV room opens out via french doors to the outdoor entertainment area. I can imaging the duck pacing around out there for half an hour thinking to himself " You can do it....just walk in as if you own the place" and so it did ......and was duly rewarded with a feed of lettuce and a little bread. However...getting rid of it was a different matter entirely. What a performance. It had every intention of nesting down at the foot of someones bed. In the end I picked it up and placed him in the bushes a couple of houses away. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of him 11
skalls Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 At least he wasn't trying to build a nest in your grill. Pair of crows thought that was a good idea last year.. 1
WarriorPrincess Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I thought I was seeing things when I saw the duck at first.....and I didn't have a drink yesterday either ???? the first thing Rob said was "Fu@# it is a duck " it certainly was ready to settle in for the night until we closed the doors and then it was like a suicidal duck flying into the glass doors not once but about 5 times It was freaking my birds out so they ended up flying into walls, doors and whatever trying to get away from the duck, resulting in Rob having to banish it out front to cause havoc with the neighbours 1
cigcars Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 ? Did he lay any "presents" for you while in there, Rob?? You know, ducks are notorious for that!
El Presidente Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 ? Did he lay any "presents" for you while in there, Rob?? You know, ducks are notorious for that! Numerous. Di and her son Todd thought it was cute....until about the 10th crap
Fuzz AI Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 A wasted opportunity, Rob. You have that big smoker sitting idle, and in walks a duck. 2
TheFullMontecristo Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Since the duck fowled the floor up, if there's any clean up costs, I would just add it on to his bill. 1
btp1979 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 That is too cool. We have a bunch of muscovie ducks behind the house, but they won't come that close to the house with our dogs always on the prowl for fowl (see what I did there )
cigcars Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Numerous. Di and her son Todd thought it was cute....until about the 10th crap OH God! Oh Lord! I was stationed with a drill sergeant at Fort Dix, NJ who killed a wandering turtle he put in our truck because that thing laid 150 million turtle turds all over the place!!! BIG ONES, too! I thought he was kidding when he said he'd killed it. But he finally let me know he was serious. I finally went to the back of our military truck and saw the "carnage" or " crap loads" he was talking about. That's my polite way of stating what he had called them!
PapaDisco Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Keeping in mind that this is Australia, that duck is most likely poisonous . . . AND a man eater! Best use caution! 2
clickbangdoh Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Serious question: how do all the common, mostly harmless animals like ducks survive in a land filled with venomous critters all out to kill you? 1
El Presidente Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Serious question: how do all the common, mostly harmless animals like ducks survive in a land filled with venomous critters all out to kill you? They have wings, run, or jump fast 2
joeruby Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Serious question: how do all the common, mostly harmless animals like ducks survive in a land filled with venomous critters all out to kill you? You gotta be tough to survive downunder.. 2
cigcars Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Serious question: how do all the common, mostly harmless animals like ducks survive in a land filled with venomous critters all out to kill you? **Remember the words of the Wise Rabbit spirit in the animated movie, "Watership Down" about the rabbits: He advised the main rabbit hero about their lot in life, "You will have many enemies. And when they catch you they will kill you...but first they must catch you; Runner; Digger; Hearer; Listener; Jumper!" etc., etc.!
