Yagermeister Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 For me, $200-250 is the sweet spot. I don't even have to stop and think about the purchase at that point. Allows for more impulse buys. That's one reason I loved the LFDC Grandiosos, they allowed me to purchase a regional edition at less than $200. I'd buy a bunch more LEs and REs if they came in boxes of 10. 1
polarbear Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Personally, I'd prefer if all cigars were offered in 25 count cabs instead of dress boxes 3
David88 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I went for 25 count boxes for $10 sticks and 10 count boxes for $20 sticks.50 count boxes for $10 sticks are awesome but I find I don't smoke enough to warrant a purchase of one stick in that quantity. I would prefer to have two boxes of 25 and have some extra variety.
RijkdeGooier Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 It is all a matter of perspective throughout the years. Personally, a good 50 Cab can give 5-10 years of pleasure on the larger formats. The investment should be seen in that light. 1
MattW Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I don't smoke all that much due to the British weather, so I'm a big fan of 10 count boxes so I can stock a good variety.
canadianbeaver Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 25's anytime. I fine the 10's just go to quickly. If I am going to commit, so be it.
mcease022 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I went with 25 25. 10 is not enough and 50 could be too many at times. I guess I would grab 10's when money is short or when I want to try something new.
FLB03TT Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Assuming adequate storage and budget- 50 count cabinets. Years ago, unbanded 50 cabinets were the choice of the seasoned cigar smoker. To my knowledge, back then all 50 cabs were unbanded. Now, also to my knowledge all current production 50 cabs are now overhead only banded. This is probably due to contemporary marketing concerns, which is all well and good, but a certain element of understatement has been lost. Regretfully, few current production Habanos are offered in this packaging. Those that are, some only are in 50s- PLPC, are often considered superior to their 25 count dress boxes- 50 count RASS for example. My sensibilities favor aging cigars in cedar boxes, rather than paper. Obviously, 25 SLBs are a viable option to dress boxes. To me there's just something a little more special about 50 count cedar cabinets.
Blakes Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I think with larger vitolas such as DC's and Churchills the option of 10ct boxes would be very welcome. I do enjoy the occasional DC/Churchill (around 10 or so a year) but I also like variety and sampling from different years... given that there's 5 current production Churchills and 7 DC's, with only 1 of the DC's is available in a 10 box, the Lucitainia and the SLR DC only available in 50cabs, if I wanted to stock a box of each in the minimum count offered currently it would mean owning and finding space for 310 cigars.. cigars that I only smoke a few a year of. 10 count boxes would be a lot more manageable.
NSXCIGAR Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Regular production, I'd always prefer a SLB, preferably a 50. I can't think of any $20 stick that's regular production outside of Cohiba. In that case, I'd prefer the smallest unit packaging possible so as to limit the damage if they suck. But assuming I know what I'm getting, I'll take the SLB 50. I just love the format and presentation. Of course, I'm assuming the cigars are identical from packaging format to format, and we're not talking about the days when different packaging represented blend differences in vitolas. (I'd still take the cab versions, BTW)
puro Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 The few boxes I've brought have all been 10s purely for storage reasons ( 100 ct humi &50 ct humi ) and disposable funds at the time of purchase Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
