apparently sharks find jet skis "annoying". this was off fraser island (i'd guess the west side but who knows). the shark had a gutful of these idiots and had a crack at them. not enough of a go!

i know we'll have plenty of members who use jet skis and good luck to you but i hate the things. my experience, and i am sure there are plenty of people not like this, is that the vast majority of the users are incredibly rude and do not give a crap about anyone else in or on or wanting to use the water.

go the sharks!!

Although I am sure that they are good fun, there are few things worse than the sound of a jet ski speeding by when you are trying to relax on the beach.

I sometimes wonder about the sanity of some people, when if I were to see a shark swimming around in the water around me, I wouldn't think 'let's get the mobile out and start filming'. The trend for viewing your day through a mobile phone is a sad one I feel. Although I did laugh at this http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/no-of-accidents-involving-people-using-phones-while-walking-increases

Anyone who has been to Japan or even South Korea would not be surprised!

Seriously there really are some stupid people in the world....they would be first to cry if one of them was bitten.

I am with you Ken....morons pod.gif

i was going for eaten rather than bitten but bitten is a good start.

That's exceptionally cruel, Ken! The shark could get a really bad case of indigestion.

Seems as though they were trying to antagonise the shark. Pretty stupid. Bronze whalers are quite aggressive. Although I think jet ski's can be very practical when getting from one place to another, site seeing a coast up close or used to skindive or fish off, they annoy the crap out of me - especially when hoons are just driving around in circles or going as fast as they can. I think once the novelty wears off then many go looking to upgrade the fun factor which I assume was the case with the shark teasers here. There is also a real problem with the licence that's handed out for use of these water craft. It's my understanding that, in Victoria at least, that the the test is much easier and the licence is much easier to obtain than a full boat licence. Divers have a real problem with them too. Many jet ski riders seem to be largely unaware of what a dive flag is and tend to power toward it at a rate of knots as a marker buoy. There have been a lot of close calls and accidents, just with guys in my spearfishing club. An educational campaign was introduced targeting PWC (personal water craft) riders at boat ramps but it seems to have fallen onto deaf ears unfortunately.

My BOTL this is a pretty ignorant statement.

Do you really know most of the jet ski owners in the world?

This is like me saying most fishermen are incredibly rude. Because the ones I see come into my cove in their boats and throw their lines under, on and around my dock. After they leave I find their stupid lures & hooks stuck to my dock, their discarded line wrapped around my jet ski lift and some have torn the cover on my jet ski while retrieving an errant cast. I don't think all fisherman are rude. Just as I don't think most jet skiers are rude. Are there some a-holes that should not have been bred out on the water? Sure? The same goes for fishermen, cigar smokers, white people, black people, grandmothers, CEOs and politicians. Please don't lump everyone into one group, well maybe lumping the politicians into one group is acceptable.

hold on.

you have deliberately misquoted me to completely twist what i said for your purposes. that to me is the epitome of ignorance.

what i said was "my experience, and i am sure there are plenty of people not like this, is that the vast majority of the users are incredibly rude and do not give a crap about anyone else in or on or wanting to use the water." i'll try again - "MY EXPERIENCE".

that is very different to what you are going on about. i might have been unlucky and the vast majority might be saints but i cannot, and did not, speak to that.

i made certain to state that i was speaking about the vast majority of users i have encountered. as in "my experience". it is quite simple.

of course i do not know all the jet ski users in the world (really silly suggestion). and i carefully worded what i wrote just to avoid this sort of idiocy.

it is my experience that the majority of the jet ski users i have encountered are incredibly rude (not all - i have one friend who loves his jet ski and he could not be a more helpful, courteous person and he is not the only one). you may have had a different experience.

i did not lump everyone in together and had you bothered to read what i did post then that should have been obvious.

Let me be ignorant and say, this is a pretty correct statement... fuel.gif

Idiotic... keep your distance and observe that animal... without harassing it.

Anyone gives us any **** on a jet ski Ken.... its a bit like well squashing a mosquito... quick and painless

Alberta is 1000 km ( at least ) from the ocean ... But I feel the same way about quads and snow sleds .

Plenty of farmers use/need quads for their daily business ... But mostly they are just loud .

Do not disturb or molest the animal. I am with the shark. Wake the sleeping beast and get what is coming to ya! Bet that he will not do that again!

I agree many fishermen are their own worst enemy. How many cut and trim their lines and throw the offcuts to the floor of the jetty or into the water. Last week I watched two guys throw lures around a pontoon which had a $100K boat drydocked on top. I swear they were hitting the side of the boat on purpose to get the perfect drop into the edge of the pontoon.

I am not flawless. overcast at night and hit a pontoon. On retrieval I pulled in an 8 ft landing net. Returned it but I thought how upset I would be if somone hit my little inflatable.

Politicians are not people. Fair game. thumbsup.gif
