H.Upmann box code Lub Sept 14

Is anyone familiar with the box code. Recently purchased a box of these H.Upmanns. Curious to know the thoughts of anyone who has smoked these sticks.

LUB was pretty much a winner all through 2014.

I did get a box of LUB ABR 14 Mag 46 that were a little off relative to other 2014s I've had but LUB was and still is a great code overall.

I've had 3 boxes of Upmanns from LUB, 2 Mag 46 (one of which is a 50 cab) and a box of HU PC all from April of 2014 and they are/were are all good boxes.

LUB Upmann is about as good as it gets. I have 5 boxes of PC and a box of #2

LUB in general had many standouts. Monte 2 from that code were stellar and so were the SP Eslavos. The Upmann 2 were amazing.

I have a SLB LUB ABR 14 of Mag 46's. They look and smell beautiful. The first I smoked from the box was terrible in every way, flavor, construction, burn, draw. Acrid, bitter smoke, varying amounts of it, wonky burn, and no progression throughout the cigar. Also some very short filler pieces when I deconstructed the last couple unsmokeable inches.

I am holding out hope, as other reviews of this cigar, code and even month all seem to be stellar. This box went to the very back of the wineador, I have plenty of other good sticks to smoke now. I'll forget about it for a while. Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble upon a gem in 5 years, if not, you guys can have em!

That's a bummer. I hope they get better for you. Something tells me that it was just that stick and I am sure the others are great. Everyone has had such good things to say about them.

LUB is a great code but no code is flawless. Perhaps the 46 is just not in your wheelhouse or like previously stated a one off. I would let them rest but try them in 6 month to year time frame.

I have definitely had bad sticks in an otherwise great box.

I tend to agree with all 3 of you above. I've had bad sticks from otherwise good boxes, and I don't have any other reason to believe the whole box will turn out the same. I was just amazed at how bad this particular one was, unpleasant from beginning to premature end. Pretty much the polar opposite of my expectations. Its OK, Patience.

As I mentioned my only LUB ABR 14 box was off as well. Maybe we should just avoid LUB ABR 14? My Mag 46s weren't as bad as your description, but they weren't great. I rated them 87/88. All other LUB 14, particularly No. 2 and PC (which I'm convinced is the same blend--at least over the last few years), scored well into the 90s for me.

LUB 15 seem to be fine as well, but 14 was almost all codes were reliable, consistent winners.

I've got a handpicked box of GEO ABR 14 Mag 46s. First cigar out of that box was not great. Second and third were much better.

Have a box of Connie A's LUB MAR 14. First couple sticks have been outstanding for a young cigar.

I have about smoked through a box of #2 LUB MAY 14's. Absolutely fantastic cigar. So good I snatched up a box of LUB 14's this week on the 24:24.

I like them since they are fairly cheap and they give you good flavors at any age. The 2015 ones gave me cream, earth, slight Cuban tang, and sweet spices. Good for such a young cigar! Older ones I have give you a little more milk chocolate to them.
